 Had to try a few times to burn a CD of pictures November 20, 2009

Not sure why, but it didn't quite work for me. The disc says CD-R 700MB, I was trying to backup 450MB of pictures and I encountered all types of problems. First, I selected all of the pictures to transfer and it just wouldn't transfer but had an error message. I tried again and again, even using another CD and another selection of pictures, same issue. Finally it accepted the pictures but said it would take 2 days(!) to transfer. I have a new HP Pavilion with not a lot stuff on it other than pictures that I need to back-up. This was a bit frustrating. Eventually I decided to try selecting 10 pictures at a time to transfer and the CD finally accepted it at a 5 - 10 second transfer rate. I had a backup disc of my pictures in about 2 minutes.
Amazon Basic products seem nice enough. The discs are solid. The "Frustration-Free Packaging" seemed like a joke. The picture shows a little box, which I received, inside a BIGGER box. I felt it would have been fine shipped as is, not sure why the bigger box; such an ecological waste, I recycled it all. I'm hoping Amazon is referring to the "Frustration-Free Packaging" of opening the CD case, which is usually tangled up in a lot of plastic that has to be cut away. Accessing the Discs was easy.
Low rating because even though it worked, it took quite a few tries.

These CDs came packaged very nicely and I was pleasantly surprised by the sturdy spindle packaging. These met my needs, sound and image quality were good. Easy to operate with adequate download speeds. What more can I say? Quality CDs at a value price

I wanted to like these "generic" CD-R discs, but after burning 7 and having 3 of them fail I decided enough is enough and returned the remainder. I am using an Apple MacBook Pro with Intel processor. The discs failed with a "could not calibrate laser" message.

These discs failed for me, proving mostly unreadable in my car. The same equipment - burning discs with a MacBook, playing them in the car - has worked fine with other CD-R's in the past.

Not much you can say about blanks except that they burn as much as as quickly as claimed without failure. I've used three of these so far and all worked well with no errors. I will update this review if I run into any problems later in the bundle.
