Great Little Computer November 21, 2009 S. Young (MD USA) I have had this one for about a month. Pleased with the battery life and clarity of the monitor. Keyboard is a bit cramped for my taste and the mouse buttons on the track pad require some getting use to. After a week I decided to go with a wireless mouse and not use the track pad (except for gestures like zoom). With a 6.5 hour battery i can take it just about anywhere without searching for power outlets or lugging around a power brick. This 150 model does not come with Bluetooth but it can easily be upgraded using a usb dongle.
So happy with this Acer 150 that I am looking to purchase the Acer Revo next.
Works as advertized November 21, 2009 Michael Hill (Jerusalem, Israel) My wife and I are committed Mac users but found a need for a PC in the house. After comparing the market we chose the Acer Aspire One and have been very happy with the choice. The battery life claims seem to be accurate. The only initial problem was getting rid of all the "extra" software (I am not a fan of all the new Google applications). Now everything is fine.
Perfect for my needs November 16, 2009 Mark T Tomczak Prior to owning this machine, I had been carting around an Apple iBook for years. After two days wasted trying to install a piece of software that I was certain was supported by Windows, I finally gave up and purchased one of these netbooks.
I couldn't be happier. It's lightweight, runs XP, and has very reasonable battery life. The keyboard is a little small for my pudgy fingers, but not unacceptably so; when I have to do a marathon coding session, I pack a full-sized USB keyboard and mouse and get some real work done.
To be fair, I may be over-valuing this purchased based on the difference in happiness I've gained from this machine vs. my previous machine. But I still think it's a very good computer at a very fair price.
AOD150-1577 Windows 7 upgrade-Awesome! November 16, 2009 R. Karlsen 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Anyone looking to upgrade their Acer One to windows 7 should run not walk for the upgrade. Don't waste your time with the windows advisor. It works and that is all that matters.
The upgrade took less than an hour and all the bells and whistles work.
It doesn't matter if you have 1 gb memory to 2 gb, it works great.
You do have to re-load your programs, but for the positive results that you will achieve, it's worth it.
It helps if you have an external DVD player. Just back up any files that are not in your "my documents" folder and your ready to go. W7 moves your "My Documents" and your "program files" into a subdirectory called windows.old.
You can retrieve your documents after you install by moving them out of the windows.old and back into "My Documents".
Boot time is quicker, hibernate mode is quicker and I haven't noticed any reduction in my battery life.
One program I added was "vista switcher". After installing, hit your Alt key and your Tab key. You will be able to cycle through the programs you have open.
One other item to ensure that your "one" is as quick as possible, I use and SD card for "ready boost". This program is built in and uses some or all of the card as a "cashe" file.
Hope this helps someone who is looking to purchase an Acer. I have had several Acers in the past and have always been pleased with their quality.
i love it but was disappointed when I traveled November 11, 2009 G. ellis (north carolina usa) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved this netbook until I took it on a trip and everyone could connect to the new wireless network there except me, which is why I bought it in the first place. When I called the Acer warranty people, they said it was a software issue and I would have to pay for the support??. I was able to connect to chat programs, but not get any web pages with either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. I still don't know why but it works perfectly at home, which I don't need it for of course.
