Theres a terrific sense of creative options for your photographic sense with a wide range of shooting

Good design, garbage images November 5, 2009 J. Katz (Chicago, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Unfortunately Canon has created a problem. They design cameras with great options (especially the infinite panorama mode, and this is the only camera that allows so many shots that you can make enormous panos), solid builds, and reliable quality of construction. Incredibly, their image quality has gotten WORSE with each passing upgrade of their DIGIC software in the camera. I would advise going to [...] to get an idea about how consistently Canon point-n-shoots are polluted by noise. It's as if they went with the most generic, cheap jpg processor on the planet to put in their cameras. No matter how good the lighting, the noise is obvious on viewing on any large screen computer monitor. In suboptimal lighting, the images are terrible.
In a nutshell: Don't get this if you want quality images (which I do).
Pros: Size and construction quality are great. Plenty of options to select scene modes of choice, very limited options (understandably) for custom image adjustment. This is a camera, like the Casios, meant to be easily pocketed so it can be with you at all times. It's hefty, though- but that's a good thing. Better stabilizing of images when you hold it, and it's solidly built. Great panorama function- not crippled like Olympus or others where you can only do a few images and then it stops, and it doesn't require special memory cards for the camera (again, unlike Olympus).
Cons: Image quality. Stinks from all the noise.
I'm probably going to get a Panasonic Lumix Zs3 to replace this dog.

The camera had excellent rating 2 years ago, but come on folks is it worth $1, 199.00??? No, I dont think so, I just purchased Canon SD990IS 14.7 MP.
Just right, Recommended and would buy again September 3, 2009 Skeeter 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Small but not too small, has multiple functions but is easy to use, large but good quality LCD viewer. Takes good pictures which print out very well. Macro takes some practice but is good. In all the best non pro camera I have owned.
