Stopped Working after only 1 day November 21, 2009 C. Perez All i did was put some music in it and as soon as i unplugged it from my computer i get an error message saying "Delayed Write Failed". It does not seem like this error can be fixed, I tried everything and it just does not want to work again.
Excellent backup accessory November 20, 2009 J. M. Sale (Marin County, CA, USA) Total plug and play operation. Basically just sits there making no noise and backing up my pc on schedule. Works as advertised..what a concept!
Prepare to Contact the Geek Squad November 20, 2009 Compulsive Shopper I bought a new laptop and didn't want to slow it down by downloading a bunch of software of music or videos. So, I purchased this product. When it arrived I plugged it in and transferred all of my iTunes music and videos immediately. I also put Rosetta Stone onto it. There was a constant humming sound but I didn't think much of it - assumed it was just working. I left it plugged in and put the computer on the table. I came back about a week later and tried to access my song files. No go. The computer would no longer even acknowledge that the Seagate FreeAgent was attached. I shut it all down, unplugged the Seagate, waited and then restarted everything...No go. I put the Seagate on a second computer - nothing. I tried a third computer - Nothing. I no longer have access to any of my files. All iTunes downloades are permanently locked away and cannot be accessed. Luckily Rosetta Stone had CDs but as for any other files, they're gone forever.
I tried Seagate and was told to retry what I had already tried which obviously did not work. Basically I paid for a black brick. I would not put any money towards this product or company again. I can't even begin to replace all that was lost.
Great product November 19, 2009 Jerry Mann (Milwaukee WI) The instillation was simple and fast. The instuction for use clear and easy to understand. I have backed up all my files and now don't worry about losing them. An extremely valuable tool.
so far so good November 18, 2009 L. Razoumov I bought couple of Seagate Go 320GB external USB hard drives over last 6 months and so far they work fine under Linux and Mac OS X. Write speeds are between 5 and 10MBytes/sec and it suffices for my needs. So far had no problems with them. On a negative side, USB socket on the drive is a bit flimsy. If one plugs USB cable in and out very often it potentially could become loose. But it did not happen to me yet.
