 Zinwell D to A converter - zero stars November 7, 2009

I received the Zinwell 970A converter and it set up quickly and esily. It then started to drop out video and later audio. Finally screen froze and remote will not turn off the device nor will the on/off switch on the unit. The only way to turn it off was to remove power. Restoring power would get it to restart and after a few seconds it would freeze again.
Amazon was quick to refund my purchase price and told me they didn't want me to return it!!

Product switches channels by itself at a rate of about once a minute, or picture freezes and box needs to be unplugged and restarted again, only to switch channels on its own. Sound isn't great either, with lots of hiss. Haven't tried customer service yet, since this is basically the first time I've tried to use it to watch an entire program, but I'm not encouraged by other negative reviews of customer service.
Disregard the other positive ratings of this product. It's not worth the gamble of forty bucks to get a product that makes TV unwatchable. Or maybe it's better for my health ...

I just got this box this morning from amazon and I already hate it! I have not even had this box for a good 24 hours and already it changes channels by itself and it freezes. I was able to pick up quite a few channels by adding an antenna but cannot watch the different channels as it always changes itself back to channel 3. If it is not changing channels it freezes. I am trying to get a hold of there customer service now to see if there is anything that can be done about this. I really don't think at this time that it is worth the $40 that I spent or the extra that I paid to have it shipped to me today. I gave it five stars for the picture quality and ease of set up and the remote is easy to use. Other than that the qualities are very poor and I had to mark a star. It really didn't deserve that in these areas.

I ordered two of the Zinwell converter boxes as did my sister. Of those 4 boxes only 1 was functional. Two of the boxes would not even turn on. No power light whatsoever. One turned on after trying every adapter and then only after a few tries. It's almost as if it had to warm up and even then the menu screen never came up. The one that did work was ok as far as set up but not completely user friendly. It's a good thing we didn't have to pay for them because of the coupon redemption. I guess it proves the saying that you get what you pay for.
