5 out of 5 stars Good Choice for Desktop Wifi   March 12, 2010

I originally planned to purchase an internal wireless network card for my 6 yr-old dell PC, but a colleague suggested I try a USB wifi adapter and it just sounded like less hassle. After reading the reviews for this medialink USB I ordered it, and when it arrived I followed some other reviewers' advice to skip the cd and let windows find the hardware. when prompted, I inserted the cd, windows found the driver, and then all I had to do was enter my ISP encryption code. It took all of 5 minutes. The PC is located in a room one floor above the router, and the signal is excellent. I'm very happy with it.

2 out of 5 stars Not for gaming   March 4, 2010

Positives:
1. Respectable price in comparison to similar devices.
2. Extension cord for improving signal.
3. Easy to install.

Negatives:
1. Poor signal consistency. Used on a PC that previously had a Belkin PCI card that did not spike. Once this card was installed, ping times to Google or any other destination spiked to 2000ms a few times a minute - a significant problem if you game online.
2. Large size (two fingers wide, the length of a credit card, and about 1/4" to 1/2" thick).

All in all, a usable device for every day computing and the average user, but certainly not a device for demanding users.

5 out of 5 stars Great company, great product   March 1, 2010

I purchased a Medialink USB wireless adapter when the internal wireless card in my PC laptop stopped working. At first, I couldn't get the product installed, so I called technical support. I still can hardly believe how nice they were, how well they knew their product and also computers in general, and how thoroughly they tried to help me. It turned out that the internet on my laptop is completely broken, so the product didn't work with that computer even after technical support's help, but that has nothing to do with the product or the company. When I tried the wireless adapter on my other computer, it worked fine. I would recommend this company to anyone, no matter what you're purchasing from them. I do believe they are one of the last companies left that actually knows what "customer service" truly means.

5 out of 5 stars Loving it so far!   February 25, 2010

Just received and installed this tonight. It took no time at all to install and was incredibly simple. Everything went smoothly & I was online immediately. Strong signal, fast connection -- love it so far! (Bought this one to replace another by IOGear, which I had to return because it caused my machine to freeze up within minutes, and kept doing the same after continually having to manually shut down my machine & trying again. This Medialink is sooooo worth the extra $7 or so!)

3 out of 5 stars It's okay   February 23, 2010

I guess I should have read a little more, I thought you were to plug this into your USB install the program and that's it. It was basically simple installation, but I don't like the fact that you have to plug the device into a cord and that cord goes into the USB. For some reason it didn't work at first, it wouldn't pick up the signal of the router I received from Comcast, but my WII would????????? then all of a sudden it just started working and has been working pretty good so far..
