Buy it for what it can do October 13, 2009 jlow (San Francisco, CA) I bought the Eye-Fi for the purpose of showing photos on a monitor without having to yank out my SD card every time. I didn't want the "tethered" alternative although it exists for every digital camera (cables to connect to your computer+tethering software+photo editing software). It stores my photos on my PC in addition to keeping it on the card, therefore I have a backup of my pix. I don't know what more you'd want this setup to do. I use it at work and at home, it's great at parties-real time photos in the blink of an eye. I hook it up to my TV that that has a PC input, send someone out to take pix, and people then watch how goofy their friends are!
I can live with 2GB, would be nicer if the Home version came with more GBs!
Horrible product and customer service is terrible August 28, 2009 Vik Mehta (mishawaka,in usa) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Bought this stupid thing because I was tired of using wires or pulling out my card to get my pics to my mac -- set it up as directed and nothing ... no pics upload nothing -- waited like 15 minutes -- not a thing - checked the router - working perfect -- plugged the card into my computer and of course the pics download - ok fine -- no worries I'll contact customer service and see what they say --- 1st contact - get a reply to send them more info and how to get the info from the eye fi card etc.... ok - sent it the way they asked - next reply that the info was sent to tech support so they could tell me what the problem was -- next reply - oh wait, there was no next reply - and no responses to my next two emails - now I am past my 30 days to return the POS and am left with a really expensive memory card .... great .
Great tool for professional photographers! August 18, 2009 A. Goykhman (Chicago, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a professional fashion and glamour photographer and use a Canon EOS-1D Mark III.
I've had the Eye-Fi card for about a year and have found that tethering the photos to my PC has never been easier. Canon makes an attachment that sells for over $700 and is bulky.. The Eye-Fi card does the same thing for a fraction of the price.
I've wirelessly transferred over 35,000 images using my single Eye-Fi card, and it continues to work great!
Lots of fun August 17, 2009 T. Kidd While generally a 1st adopter, I waited on the Eye-Fi until it dropped to a reasonable price. The 2GB version, at about $50, is a nice addition to your camera if you have a wireless home network. Download the iGliss PC Client and you can automatically post pictures to the web within seconds of snapping them.
Amazed and Impressed August 7, 2009 eboschet (Philadelphia, PA) When I first read about eye-fi i was skeptical that it would do everything I thought it would. When I got my new card, I set it up and my friends and I went around the city taking pictures. When I got home, they were instantly uploaded to my computer and facebook. It has made organizing and sharing my photos so much simpler. My only complaint comes several months after I purchased the card. Now it appears that geotagging is included in the new cards so you don't need to subscribe. That would have been helpful and saved me $15
