Sharp EL-W516B November 12, 2009 Jacqueline (Sacramento, CA) Good product haven't used it much, but plan on using it for my math class. I would recommend it.
The only thing missing is RPN November 7, 2009 Just Anonymous (Georgia, USA) I've got to say that my review will be short for this calculator primarily because there's just so much to say about this calculator that you can write a book: ie the user manual.
Over 500+ functions - compare that to the 100 functions on the nostalgic HP 35s Scientific Calculator which I also own from a nostalgia standpoint. However, from a functions standpoint and from a display standpoint, this Sharp calculator is light years ahead of the pack. I bought both this and the HP35s and I do find myself using the 35s more (but that's just because where I'm at in life I'm more concerned with converting F to C vs trying to do calculus or complex statistics: I hire young smart people with Sharp calculators or computers to do that).
The only thing higher than this is are the graphing calculators but even here I think the competition is mixed.
My thought is this:
1) Sharp's competition in the nongraphing lineup is Casio;
2) TI's competition on the graphing calculators is HP.
Other than that, there is really no competition except for the personal computer.
My thought is that this sharp calculator is a tremendous value for what you get. You can do statistics, calculus, trig, algebra, and virtually every kind of math out there.
Alphabet Character is limited October 25, 2009 Ali Rahnama (usa) I had a sharp calculator for a while and I love it so much. I was going to buy a mid scientific calculator with capability of inputting formula. But as very very surprising although there is alphabet key on the calculator but the alphabet list restricted to ,a,b,c,d,e,f,m,n,x,y. not more. So if you plan to do something with alphabet as formula, it won't help you. But a scientific calculator for normal use it is ok and easy to use.
Feature packed calculator October 18, 2009 Luigi (Los Angeles) The EL-W516B is loaded with calculating power and after a little practice is fairly easy to use. My only real comparison is with the older HP Scientific Calculators which in my opinion were the best of any you could find. The newer ones, however, are less expensive and give you plenty of functionality. This one is all the calculator I need.
Great Calculator! September 10, 2009 K.M.A.K (USA) If you are looking for a great scientific calculator this is the one to get. It has just about everything you need and is easy to work. I got this calculator because someone recommended it to me and I am pleased to say that I am not disappointed in it in the least.
