Amazon.com Product Description The high-performance HDTVa amplified indoor HDTV antenna from Terk Technologies is designed to capture both UHF and VHF signals (channels 2 to 69) while extending the reception range for all local HDTV broadcasts. The HDTVa uses an ultra-low-noise, high-gain amplifier with Terk's exclusive Dual-Drive Amplifier technology for clear reception of both distant and close HDTV and DTV stations. As suitable for those living in city apartments as for those in suburban homes, the compact HDTVa lets viewers experience HDTV broadcasts in full resolution. Designed for total reception versatility, the HDTVa's high-gain antenna array can be oriented either horizontally or vertically within its mounting base to achieve optimum capture of off-air broadcasts. Set the amplifier to high-gain mode to compensate for signals that are too weak or might otherwise be bypassed for a stronger signals nearby. Simplifying your installation, the HDTVa uses Terk's Power Injector to derive power via its coaxial connecting cable. The result? One cable is all you have to connect, making it easy to install the HDTVa atop or near your television. The antenna is engineered to receive all local HDTV channels, with an operating bandwidth covering both the UHF (channels 2 to 13) and VHF (channels 14 to 69) frequency ranges. Its highly directional log periodic UHF and precision VHF elements are designed to receive HDTV broadcasts with maximum signal strength while rejecting all or most interference. The HDTVa is as exceptional in appearance as it is in performance: its curved, tapering, polished-aluminum antenna elements are mounted in a slim base with a contoured front that visually complements the curve of the antenna elements. Amazing! November 24, 2009 J. Kendall (USA) I bought these products for my feonsay using her credit card. This product is amazing, we receive 22 channels with 10 being HD. The rest come in perfect digital quality. We live 35 miles away from any T.V. network, and the box for this antenna says up to 45miles. I believe it! I read tons of reviews on this on here and I will say it is very sturdy staying up buy its self on a flat service. We currently have it sitting on top of our VCR, which is also on top of our T.V.. Ignore anyone who says its top heavy this is far from true. I'm very amazed on how cool this things looks in person over picture and what it offers for performance.
I will say this, I don't notice much of a difference having the power on or off on this antenna. I have tested it using the signal menu on my T.V. box. There slight gain, but not much and I debate if its really necessary. I guess you get what you pay for, and for $35 its worth the price.
Works better than the non amped version November 20, 2009 Mediahound (SF Bay Area, CA United States) I had the non amplified version of this antenna previously and in my location, it worked okay but I did get some drop-outs and HD scrambled signals at times. After I switched to this version with the AC power amplifier, I get all channels crystal clear with zero drop outs! I'm therefore very happy with this antenna.
I've also tried another powered antenna of a different brand and it did not perform as well.
Your location matters and the higher up you can put this antenna the better. If you have a house, putting it in the attic and wiring it to the house cable is probably a good thing to do. I'm in a top floor condo and live by the San Francisco Bay right on the water so I get great reception in my location. I have this antenna hidden behind my entertainment rack and it works great there. It's quite ugly and has long aerials so I would never consider having it out on display. It takes some trial and error and again, depends on your location. If I ever move to a location where I don't get as good over the air reception, I would opt for getting cable or UVerse or satellite instead.
Terk HDTV Antenna November 18, 2009 Susan W. Atmore (Seattle) My computer person is helping me understand this new antenna. It's very good
and I don't have to bother the Cable Company with the new TV I have put in
my studio at the back of the garden.
Awesome Antenna November 17, 2009 dartman43 I had a basic uhf/vhf non-amplified antenna and was able to pull in 12 channels in the Bay Area; with this Terk HDTVa antenna, I could receive 60+ channels! This antenna far exceeded my expectations. The only real drawback was having to delete the Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, & infomercial channels that I didn't want.
Best antenna I've purchased November 17, 2009 tvwatcher (Bennett CO) Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception
We live in a rural area far from the HD towers. I have tried several different antennas and was unable to receive signals from most of the available stations. With this purchase, we were able to receive all the stations available in our area.
