Product Description
The Dayton VIT-1 virtually eliminates the 60 Hz hum introduced into your home entertainment system through your analog cable or antenna connection, and is usually noticed when connecting a powered subwoofer to your home theater system. A passive design does not affect your analog cable tv signal strength (not recommended for use ondigital cable or cable modem installations). In extreme cases the use of a grounding block may also be necessary. Connect the transformer in-line between your cable line and TV using the female F-connector on the cable side, and the male F-connector on the TV. Operating frequency: 54 MHz to 1 GHz. Note: Interferes with digital cable, cable modem, and satellite TV operation.

5 out of 5 stars Best $10 investment   August 19, 2009

This little guy did the trick. I had a nasty hum coming through my sound system. Thought I would give it a try, and it worked great!! Very easy to install, if you can attach a cable to a cable box, then this will be a breeze. I connected mine directly to the box outside, and it cancelled out all humming. Best of all, none of my programming was interrupted, and all HD channels work great.

After purchasing a new LCD HDTV, I was horrified when all of my cable channels had these annoying thick bars of discoloration slowly moving up the picture. I was even more horrified that the cable tech Comcast in AL dispatched told me there was nothing they could do about it. I almost bought this exact same part elsewhere for $40. Thank goodness I found this! I didn't realize how much my picture and audio were being ruined until I installed this! And for this price!? I would have gladly given $100! If you are suffering from a "60 Hz hum", you must get this. (The seller was really fast to ship it, too!)

5 out of 5 stars It Worked Like A Charm!   April 7, 2009

WOW! This really did work! The best part is that it eliminated the hum without impacting the audio or video signal at all. I'm very impressed. I would recommend this to anyone having issues with cable induced hum. It's totally passive to the rest of your audio chain.

5 out of 5 stars Good solution, low price   March 25, 2009

Bought this after doing internet research on horizontal lines and audio buzz with cable tv (Comcast in N Indiana) since the cable tech guy had no idea how to fix the problem. At first I connected it to my cable box and the incoming cable to the isolator. This worked...but I discovered that two of my high def channels did not come in. I was still pretty happy with the product because it totally eliminated the buzz and also took away the lines floating up my screen on all the other channels (and the channels that I usually watch were not affected). I decided to move the isolator in front of the cable splitter coming into the house to see what affect that had. This totally fixed the problem. The channels that did not come in before were now back and the lines and buzz were gone. Great solution for much less cost than the $50 that I saw for similar products.

3 out of 5 stars Works, But Weakened Signal   February 28, 2009

I plugged this in to resolve a speaker humming issue due to the TV and the computer wired to a common receiver. It worked and the humming went away. However the digital TV signal is now weaker and and some channels do not come in at all. So I removed it and discovered that the normal cable connector was a little loose coming out of the housing. I was able to solve my problem without the transformer by fidgeting with the normal connector until the humming went away. Eventually I will redo the cable connector and see how it works.
