Amazon.com Product Description For math and science students at all levels and for any home or office needing to compute algebraic equations from time to time, the Casio FX-300w Plus calculator is an indispensable tool. From high school onward, in lab classes and for exams, the FX-300w features a two-line display and supports complex number calculations, algebra, calculus, and 18 levels of parentheses. Always powered up, it's just as useful in a household or office for all your calculating needs, from finances to converting cooking measurements, and for anything else you can think of when you wish you had a calculator at hand. The large, readable two-line display exhibits 10 digits, shows the problem as you write it, and then shows the answer alongside, permitting better tracking of your equation-solving process. With the Casio FX-300w, if you make an input error, you can quickly clear it with the backspace key. Tap the auto replay function to check your last equation. You can also use 229 built-in mathematics functions, enter fractions, raise y to the x power, figure standard deviations, process degree/radian/grad conversions, calculate sine, cosine, tangent, and inverse, and compute permutations and combinations. Plus, call upon the FX-300w's basic scientific, exponential, and trigonometric functions for everything you need to complete your assignments and lab work. Key in and program formulas to save for future uses. The FX-300w provides one independent and six constant memory keys. It has an efficient key layout, making this an easy-to-use basic scientific calculator, offering all the functions you'll need in a solidly constructed unit. And solar power means never replacing batteries; the backup battery assures you'll always have power when you need it. --Barbara Price

Great Scientific Calculator October 30, 2009 Richard Bhola (Pembroke Pines, FL) This is a great little scientific calculator.
The buttons are soft and precise. It has all the functions that a student needs for Math.
The protective cover is strong.
I have no hesitation in recommending this unit.
I will always use this calculator October 16, 2009 Issabelle Rose (San Diego, CA) This calculator accompanied me through high school along with all the standardized tests. I love it for all its functions (there's a lot, if one ever kept the manual and read it =) ). I really like the top line that shows you your inputs, so that when you get an unexpected answer, you'll be able to find the problem.
The only reason I bought a new one was because I misplaced my old one. I expect this one to last me at least decades since battery life has been a non-issue. This will be the only calculator I'll ever carry and use. Even now, I use it in grocery stores to figure out unit prices.
A++++ September 14, 2009 Virgie L. Russell-Angle (Small Town, MS) Just as described.
Received fast as possible due to location (outside the U.S.).
Great Customer Service!
Definitely would use again!
Great calculator - need to print your own manual. August 30, 2009 Ancient Mariner (Maine, USA) Great calculator. The print on the map foldout manual is so tiny you need a magnifying glass to read it,
as with all the Casio calculators. [...] One page per 8.5 X 11" sheet is perfect.
Be ready to coach a middle schooler on operation after reading the manual. It isn't as
easy as a basic calculator, but very logical after a brief introduction.
Casio FX-300MS Plus August 23, 2009 WinCrazy (near Philadelphia, PA) This model is now "extinct", but I knew it would soon be when I bought it. Too bad. It works very well and has all the arcane math features I could ever want. It's easy to use, though. The only complaint I have is that it insists on turning off after a time-out even though it is able to power itself from the solar cells indefinitely. This is very annoying and makes no sense. Apparently, it doesn't have the smarts to figure out that it can run off just the solar cells when in good lighting. Perhaps that's one reason this model has been discontinued. I also really would have liked to see floating point numbers shown in "engineering notation" (exponent is always shown in multiples of 3) in addition to regular scientific notation.
Apparently, Casio no longer has an about-10 dollar calculator anymore. Everyone must now spend around 15 bucks for either the Casio FX-115MS or the Texas Instruments TI-30XIIS for the lowest priced solar+battery 2-line scientific calculator.
