| Customer Reviews: great book September 3, 2009 V. Knight (USA) This book is a great read and explains Finance very well. I recommend it to anyone!
Just as described July 4, 2009 Rebecca M. Schult Textbook for class- had to order, best price was on Amazon.com. Lightning fast shipping, too.
Excellent introduction to corporate finance June 20, 2009 W. B. Mckibben The text presents all the basic concepts of finance in simple, easy to understand language. The vignettes tie concepts in to current affairs and the breakaways provide deeper insights. The companion excel models are easy to use and understand. The self-test and end of chapter questions are clear and accurately test comprehension. Although I got the book for a finance course, I believe it is written well enough that a non-academic audience would find it valuable.
too many footnotes April 29, 2009 Dolores (San Diego) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm a student who has read through chapter 8 so far. I like the collection of equations in the appendix, and the detailed table of contents has been helpful. However, I find that the text has way too many footnotes, some sections can be difficult to understand (and what was the whole chatty section with Robinson Crusoe doing in there? the level is uneven), and even though I've visited the publisher's website a few times, I've yet to find some of the pages mentioned (by topic, not by URL) in the text. How about giving a URL? While the author has clearly made an effort to include very current material in the book which does make for interesting reading, for an introduction to Financial Mgt, I'd prefer a less expensive book containing information that won't seem dated in a couple years.
