I've Seen The Drama! October 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What A Great Idea for a preteen book.
I am a mother of three girls, and grandmother of four girls. I have seen the drama.
Here is a self-help book for pre-teen girls. A Smart Girls Guide to Friendship Troubles gives advice to girls. There are examples of problems which a girl could be faced with, along with snippets of advice from other girls, and at the end, it tells which solution the girl chose, and how the problem worked out.
There are quizzes on: A True Friend Test; Do You Speak Up? ; The Secret Test; Are You in A Toxic Friendship and How Much Are You Being Swayed by the Crowd?
This book often suggests for the girl to talk to her parents, and makes suggestions on how to talk about a problem.
My granddaughters are always making friends and finding out the friendship isn't a good match. This book will make friendship problems much easier for the girls to solve. I intend to purchase several copies as Christmas gifts, this year. From a Psychologist's Perspective, A Really Helpful Book ! April 13, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Truth: I'm a Girl, I'm Smart and I Know Everything As a positive psychologist I'm always looking for books that are really helpful with tough subjects. This book is a real match for the tough subject of friendships and best girlfriends. This is a subject that just about every girl over 9 has suffered her way through. Most girls have good friends and then discover that there are problems to face: feelings of jealousy or being left out, or really not being someone's best friend. In fact, one reason I wrote my new book, The Truth: I'm a girl, I'm smart and I know everything, was to help girls understand and feel reassured about their complex feelings and issues in the area of friendship. The girl in the book has lots of problems with good friends and in her diary shares her truest feelings and figures out solutions. Girls need all the help they can get as they learn about friends, people ultimately they will treasure for the rest of their lives. So feel free, be a friend to your daughter or neice and get her this book!
Ohhhh! The high drama of middle school power plays! February 10, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Your seventh grader might be bestest pals with a classmate on Monday, absolutely hate her on Wednesday and be back to undying friendship in time for the week-end! In between, there are snarky girls who spread lies, exclude her from conversations, and leave nasty notes on her desk. And, that's just one week!
In the high-action world of kid politics, your child needs an advantage, and American Girl has provided it with A Smart Girls Guide to Frendship Troubles. Kids, tweens and younger teens will adore this wonderful book!
Highly recommended!
