Product Description As featured on Dr. Phil... After the horrific Virginia Tech massacre in April 2007, all of us are now aware of the major disasters that can strike our students at college. But each year more than 500,000 college students become victims of crimes and accidents that rarely get reported in the media. Protect Yourself at College College is based on three years of extensive research and interviews with college and security officials. It provides parents with a vital tool to give their students as they pack up for school. School administrators will want to hand out this book to each student entering the freshman class. It covers everything from dorm safety to binge drinking, from spring break concerns to date rape, from walking the campus to keeping your computer safe, from fraternity hazing to taking the bus. Every chapter includes real-life examples and a checklist of safety suggestions and prevention measures that will ensure students do not become a crime statistic.

Good book for all persective college students May 13, 2008 I really enjoyed this book and found it very informative and helpful. With a wife planning on attending Northern Illinois University I especially liked the section on guns at school.
I recommend this book for any student planning on attending college or a parent of someone who will attend. This book is very easy reading and I liked the author's tips.
Giving as my standard high school grad gift April 26, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am planning to give this book as my standard HS graduation gift. What I liked about the book was the ease of reading about the various topics of interest (and importance) to college students. Even thought HS students think they know it all, there was information here that I think they will find not only to be new and informative, but also a reminder of what could happen and how to be prepared. I did not find it preachy or judgemental, but a good resource of what to expect. I highly recommend the book.
