Nice variety. November 17, 2008 This book gave me a chance to sample a few author that I had been wanting to try. I love the ever inventive and steamy Lora Leigh, but now I am looking forward to trying Erin McCarthy's series.
The Magical Christmas Cat November 17, 2008 I have read a couple of the books in this anthology but Lora Leigh's breed series is worth the price of admission. Although this short story was about a less known breed it had all the fun and excitement of her other books. Nalini Singh's short story about the world of the Psy was very interesting and I will definitely check out the other books in the series.
Good read November 7, 2008 I ordered this book solely because I am addicted to Nalini Singh's stories and I can't wait until next year. After finishing the book I have to say that I might as well pick up Lora Leighs Breed stories. Nalini Singh's "Stroke of Enticement" is fantastic. Usually her characters have obstacles after obstacles to overcome, since this is a short story, there is almost instant gratification of Zach's and Annie's romance. "Christmas Bree" however did not really excite me, for some reason the story line was just to quick and unfinished. "Sweet Dreams" was a very interesting new read for me, since it portrays **SPOILER** the cat as the evil this time **SPOILER**. Also, very mellow in comparison to the other yummy stories. My second favorite story was definitely "Christmas Heat". Noble's and Haley's story is just amazing (ly hot)and as I said before, Lora Leigh is on my book list now.
Agree w/ the first reviewer October 27, 2008 Overall, was an excellent book - 4.5/5. As others have mentioned, Jones' "Sweet Dreams" was probably the weakest, both in heat level, and that it felt a little out of place. While I was glad to see a non-20-something, body-to-die for heroine, it just felt a bit out of synch with the rest.
As an avid reader of Leigh's "Breeds" series, I enjoyed her story a lot.
I've now been introduced to (yet) another interesting series w/ Singh's Psy/Changlings.
And the other story, "Christmas Bree" was nice - particularly as I am Wiccan myself, as is much of my family. In these post-"Charmed" days, a story that is a happy medium between the reality of Wicca and fantasy-Witches was good. My only complaint is that the connection was a bit rushed; to be expected in an anthology, but this story was the only 1 of the 4 that I felt it.
Overall, an enjoyable read & worth my time & money.
Lora Leigh Rocks! October 24, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
In truth I bought this book because one of Lora Leigh's Breed Series stories was in it. The other authors included in this book didn't do much for me. I can't tell you a thing about the three other stories in the book because I was flipping to the next story after only a couple of pages. The story lines did not catch my attention. This was not the case with Ms. Lora Leigh's story.
Christmas Heat is another in her Breed series which I adore. It tells the story of Noble, a Jaguar Breed, and Haley, the unasumming town librarian with a tough core. Its unfortunate that the story was not longer because I would have liked to have had more in debth involvement in the story by the character Zane Taggert, who is the town Sheriff. I would have liked to see more character development of the other Breeds mentioned only because then I could enjoy the anticipation of the books dedicated to their stories.
I love the Breed series and eagerly await each new story she does with them. Ms. Leigh has kept the story line open and could introduce new characters and new books easily and believably. Hopefully, she chooses to brings us many, many more books for this series.
I'd rather the Breed series stories be full length books, though. I just can't get enough of them and want to delay coming to the end of the story.
I gave the whole book 4 stars on the strength that it included one of Ms. Leigh's Breed series. The rest of the stories aren't really the best work of those authors.
