Worth the price February 7, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was hesitant to purchase this book since I could find no reviews of it anywhere. I'm posting my first review on Amazon because, after working through the first seven lessons, I'm convinced that this is the book to buy if you're serious about learning astrological calculations. I'm very rusty at math and astronomy, but this book starts with the basics and moves quickly, step-by-step, explaining everything comprehensibly. Every calculation technique you might need is clearly laid out, and your understanding is tested through exercises that are really worthwhile to do. The answer keys allow me to quickly identify where I missed a step. The progression through the lessons is thorough and clear, with excellent illustrations (for instance, the diagrams illustrating retrograde movement are some of the best I've ever seen). Be aware that to use this book you'll need astrological atlases (American & international), a midnight ephemeris, and a book of tables. But anyone serious enough about astrology to buy this book would want those anyway. This is THE book to get if you're prepping for a certification exam.
