Good books July 8, 2008 This is a good book and compact, part of a series put out. I was new to astrology. However, I would never spend $40.00 for one alone. You can find other descent books out their for much less. Years ago I spent maybe $13 for a new one.
For Lovers of Detail & Folks without Computer programs March 3, 2008 They say Volume I is going out of print, so if you can grab it, please do! This series, which even has further volumes, if you can find them, are the best ever with which to learn the basics. Easy to understand and yet covers all the bases.
Great book for beginners March 21, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book is by far the best I have read when it comes to introducing astrology to people who have a serious interest. It goes through all the major principles of astrology in a clear and concise manner. It is structured by lessons as opposed to chapters and has a quiz at the end of each lesson. As you read more about astrology and become more experienced interpreting charts, you will want to read seperate books for each planet, or the nodes, etc., but I can't think of a better way to start.

This book helps the serious student of astrology learn the math needed to do a birth chart or other astrological calculations.
Fantastic Book You Will Refer to Often June 5, 2003 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This book was highly recommended to me by a professional astrologer in the 80s when I first started studying astrology. I still refer to this book, and I'm glad to see that it's still available because I still recommend it to friends. The entire series is good, but this first installment is priceless. This first book helps you learn the language and the basic mechanics of astrology, and it is organized for easy reference. By the time you finish reading this book, you should be able to read a chart. Then you'll be ready to start a lifelong journey to continuously improve the art of practicing astrology!
