Product Description
On a beautiful sunny day in the Coronado National Monument, an elderly couple's car goes off the side of a mountain and into oblivion. The terrain is so rocky that a helicopter must be flown in to retrieve the bodies, and to make matters worse, a thunder-storm is looming on the horizon. Hours later and miles away, the subsiding rain reveals gruesome evidence: two trash bags containing human remains. It's just another day in the life of Cochise County sheriff Joanna Brady. Back at home, Joanna has a newborn baby, a teenage daughter, a writer husband, and a difficult mother to deal with. But in the field, it turns out that she has much more on her hands. The remains are those of a handicapped woman who had wandered away from a care facility with a suspicious track record. Another resident, with whom the woman may have been involved, has also been reported missing. Meanwhile, a note is found in the glove compartment of the car lying twisted down the mountainside, stating that its occupants intended to take their own lives. Yet a contradictory autopsy report surfaces, and when the deceased's two daughters show up to feud over their inheritance, Joanna knows there is more to this case than just a suicide pact. And she will go all out to find the truth—no matter where it leads.

Good, dependable story September 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The best part of J.A. Jance books is that she always delivers.
THis is a strong story, with good, well-drawn characters.
It won't keep you up at night but it will entertain.
Damage Control September 1, 2008 If Johanna Brady were real, I'd be in love with her! J.A. Jance continues to be a master of this genre and, as usual, produces a great addition to the Brady series. I highly recommend this book and wish she could write them faster!
Families in Conflict August 31, 2008 Sheriff Joanna Brady is back and the suspense grabs the reader. The opening doesn't connect to the story line until the end and leaves the reader expecting the connection to occur much sooner. Over a rough weekend Joanna's office finds themselves buried in bodies. Each is a story of a family in trouble and the reader is drawn into the lives of every character. For readers familiar with the series it it a visit with old friends you haven't hear from in a while. DAMAGE CONTOL keeps you reading when your head tells you that you'd better spend your time elsewhere. How much better can a mystery get? Damage Control August 29, 2008 I have read the whole Joanna Brady series and was waiting impatiently for this next one to be written and published. It was good but not as good as some of the earlier ones. It is still worth a read though and I recommend it. Having lived in Tucson and Phoenix for many years I always enjoy reading books about places I am familiar with. I can never put a Jance book down until I finish it. She is a very good writer.
Damage Controlled August 29, 2008 It's a hectic week for Cochise County sheriff Joanna Brady: apparant suicides, feuding heirs, dead body in the desert, new baby, writer husband who needs to go on tour, and a mother who seems to have gone around the bend. Then there's the discovery that her saintly father may not have been so saintly, after all. And it all needs Joanna's personal attention and presence. It's another roller coaster ride around Cochise County and Tucson as Joanna tries to fit it all in. Her department gas budget alone is horrendous. A quick, rushing read and over too soon.
