This book is horrible. I relied on it too much to pass the PANCE, and needless to say, due to the extreme amount of errors in the book I failed the PANCE. Many of the questions gave incorrect answers. I estimated about 10%. I would not recommend this book to anyone who wishes to pass the boards. It should be pulled off the shelves!!!

I bought this book to prepare for the PACKRAT. After taking the first 4 preliminary tests, I was performing a bit worse than expected until I started checking my wrong answers. A more than significant number were actually correct according to the companion Lange review book and corroborated by Current Medical Diagnosis 2008. I was then concerned that there may be others that I chose correctly that were actually incorrect. I had no faith in my scores or the information provided by this test prep book and have stopped using it. I am not referring to typos or grammatical errors either, I mean medical science errors. The "hit or miss" method is not the way I want to practice medicine.

I bought this book hoping for a good bank of questions with detailed explainations and thats definately what I got! There are enough questions in this book to keep a PA student entertained for hours. The level of diffculty in this book is for people that have been studying for the boards for a while, some of the questions are quite difficult. I would not use this book as a starting point but closer to exam time. However be aware. Sometimes the answer doesn't correlate with the question. Example you picked B, the answer and explaination part says C, but the explaination for the correct answer was for B so just be careful that ur not marking yourself wrong, read the explainations to be sure! But explainations were very helpful for quick reviews.

I've been a PA for 25 years. I'm due to take my recertification exam in December of 2008. The Lange Q&A book has really helped me to prepare for the exam in a systematic way. The book is laid out in a question and answer format. The answers are the best part, as they provide complete explanations with references. The book covers everything from Dermatology to Ob/Gyn. There are also Surgical sections. I have one complaint; I've found a couple errors along the way which are more than just typos. The next edition should be edited more carefully.

This book is downright dangerous. There are a ridiculous amount of typos and downright errors in addition to outdated practices in the Practice test of this book. An optho referral for a simple corneal abrasion? Nitrous Oxide as a form of conscious sedation in the ED (maybe when Carter was president)? You'll answer a question and then in the answers they might give you the right explanation but the wrong letter or vice versa. Or questions with the same. There also questions that offer the same choice twice. Of the list of books I trust, this is certainly not one of them. Its one thing to have misspelled words, but to even have one error in a book like this (considering its for a Board Certification exam that to fail it makes life VERY difficult), it puts your ability to trust the information very low. Would not recommend this book.
