Product Description
The new, up-to-date edition of Barrons SAT test prep manual presents a diagnostic test and five full-length practice tests that reflect the most recent SATs in length, question types, and degree of difficulty. The book also presents an overview of the SAT, explains its scoring method, and offers subject reviews in critical reading, grammar and usage, and math. In addition, it gives advice on preparing and writing the required SAT essay. Here is comprehensive preparation for that all-important college entrance exam, which must be taken by most college-bound students in North America.

i wouldn't have thought this book would do me such good. It explained everything in details and gave extremely helpful tips for taking the SAT. i just took it today and it seemed very easy from the learning process of this book. Very thorough in explaining. It is definitely a must have if you're about to take the SAT.

A very helpful book. Gives the student tools that are helpful to improve the knowledge needed to do well on the SAT.

4 out of 5 stars Good study material for preparing SAT I   July 1, 2008
I used the mathematics portion of this book for my SAT prep class students. It is pretty good even with detail solutions. However, it did have a few mistakes due to typo errors. Overall, it is a good study material for SAT I.

3 out of 5 stars Satisfactory   March 4, 2008

The vocab list was really long and seemed impossible to undertake. However, I did about 2-3 lists per day for a couple weeks before the test, memorizing unfamiliar words, and I saw a lot of them on the test itself. It also improved my vocab for REAL LIFE situations! If you're willing to sit down and try to memorize close to 3500 words, then why not?

The practice tests were rather inaccurate. The math portion was a lot harder than other publishers' math parts. I took 3 of the 4 practice tests in Barron's and received scores lower than 650 each time. But when I took the College Board test, my math score was above 700. The actual SAT math questions were more similar to the big blue book questions than they were to Barron's questions.

I never bothered reading through the whole book.

3 out of 5 stars Good for extra practice exercises   November 6, 2007

This book has many practice exercises that are hard enough to be good prep for the test.

It's major flaw is the lack of explanation for why a given answer is correct.

If you need a book that explains how to arrive at the correct answers I suggest buying Rocket Review as the book actually teaches you basic principles that explain how the test works and how to beat it.
