Schaum's is always Great July 6, 2009 James Doane (Portland, Oregon USA) Lets you learn how to really do the problems that the text books just skim over.
Really Nice March 8, 2006 Jacob Vollmer (Lafayette, Louisiana) This book is quite useful at times. I am taking a Differential Equations course and so far it as helped me out in this sometimes tricky subject. Although it has left out a few things that are in my textbook, I would recommend it for anyone that needs a little help with the process of solving problems.
Practice, Practice , Practice Problems March 1, 2006 J. Matrix (Reno, NV United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you need a helpful outline with lots of solved practice problems to learn Differential Equations, this is your book!
Good Review Outline January 28, 2006 Tinkerquark (Montana, U.S.A) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a well-written and concise review of ODEs. As a review, it's awesome, and I would highly recommend this for a refresher or a reference for improving your skill level. However, I am not entirely sure it's a sure thing for introductory-level students. In other words, if you want to just pick it up and learn, be aware; it does not derive results in detail as some textbooks do. Nonetheless, it is one of the better Schaum's Outlines.
Misguiding August 28, 2005 a reader 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I feel that the original reviews as to the content and audience are misguiding. Firstly, this book does not cover enough the basics before dealing with more complex stuff, unlike for example Schaum's Outline on Matrix Operations. Secondly, there aren't enough practical applications (only two chapters out of 30), all the other worked examples are based on abstract problems. Thirdly, when buying a book on differential equations, I would have expected PDEs to be covered, at least at the basic level- this is not the case and to get this you have to buy the 'Partial Differential Equations' Outline, which I found quite annoying.
