5 out of 5 stars Great!   July 21, 2009
A. Song (Indianer.)
This book covered all the topics that were on the AP test, without it I would have been lost as to what to focus on and what to discard. Of course, I had to study my school textbook for the finer details but as review books go this one is the best. It definitely helped me get a 5 last year.

4 out of 5 stars AP Biology 9780470097649   June 28, 2009

The structures shown in figure 2-5 and 2-6 have errors in them. The fatty acid portion of the structure is wrong. There should not be a carbon atom between the oxygen atom and the carbonyl group. Compare that to structure D on page 27, which is correct.

I have not reviewed the entire book. If you'd like a comprehensive editing/review, my friends and I have hundreds of years experience in chemistry and biochemistry (Ag science R&D) and are all currently unemployed. We enjoy working as a team. Since our lay-off, several of us have tutored or taught chemistry lab classes at the college level.

4 out of 5 stars An excellent review book.   June 17, 2009
T. Johnson
This book is an excellent way to study for the AP exam. It has short, but thorough explanations. It also has quizzes at the end of each section with multiple choice questions and free response questions, and there are detailed explanations too.
However, this book has some flaws. Some of explanations are confusing and there are spots where diagrams are either lacking or are hard to read. The chapter with the five kingdoms goes into far too much detail, on the AP exam there were barely any multiple choice questions on it and there was only half a free response on it.
Overall, this books positive points are far more numerous then its negative ones. This is probably the best review book for AP Bio and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get a 4 or 5.

I had such a good teacher that I didn't actually need this. I went through it once, but it didn't really tell me anything helpful

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful supplement or stand-alone review - Got a 4 and sick on same day   February 23, 2009

Both me and my brother got a copy to share between us, and it was absolutely wonderful. I found it very easy to use, especially considering the amount of information required to know for the AP exam. All I learned in class and then some was condensed coherently in this book. Clear and meaningful diagrams, and straight to the point no frills. Right now I'm in senior year and taking IB Biology III which is equivalent to probably an introductory anatomy and physiology class in college (i'm guessing) and I'm wishing that I can find the book since we lost it moving into a new house.
The great thing about this book is that I was able to kind of relearn what I had taken earlier in the year and use notes from my teacher to review. I did this for maybe 10 hours the day before the exam (and not to be bias I did pay attention and do well throughout the year, so the concepts im reviewing i already knew, don't expect to do well be cramming the day before, that only works if you have little information with little thinking behind it). The day of the exam I had a horrible stomach virus and I was throwing up and fatigued during the test. I was surprised to find that not only did I pass but I got a 4 on the exam. I'm not going to equate the book to my success, but it certainly helped. Even though I lost the book I plan to buy another one just to review for teh IB exam this year and keep to review in college since I plan to take pre-med. Definitely recommend, but also there is nothing like learning in class, so do well in school and use this book as a supplement. And don't eat potato salad before the test for that matter!! I learned the hard way!
