| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Every child has the potential for success in math. But sometimes today's educational system can leave children-and parents-perplexed. What is "new math" and how does it work-or not work? What goals are realistic for your child? How do you make math fun instead of a chore? And how can you most effectively help your child learn?
Even if parents can't remember a thing about fractions or word problems, this indispensible guide is so simple and straightforward that even the most confusing mathematical concepts seem easy to learn...and teach. Written by a former MIT professor and expert on learning, Math Coach shows parents how to evaluate their child's knowledge and school curriculum, then maximize their time, techniques, and learning materials. A lesson-by-lesson approach will help parents:
¥ Explain mathematical concepts in clear, simple language ¥ Use the most effective techniques for teaching counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, word problems, and algebra ¥ Find study aids, teams, tournaments, and other ways to supplement their child's education

| Customer Reviews: Purchased, not received, and refunded... September 3, 2009 math phobe (South Orange, NJ) I ordered this book, which was written by a very well-known educator. The book was apparently shipped to the wrong address and the vendor could not supply me with another copy. They did, however, refund the shipping fee and book price.
Outstanding. December 22, 2001 Lee M. RASIEL (Alpine, New Jersey) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful book. It is well-organized, systematic, and informed by Professor Wickelgren's work in cognitive psychology and by his many years coaching talented math students of all ages. "Math Coach" inspired me to start an after-school math enrichment program at my children's school. I recommend it highly.
