This book is a nice activity based book for parents who are needing suggestions for home or teachers who are needing classroom activities. I like the way that it gives a simple implementation idea and then expands upon that activity to incorporate more skills. A very nice parent and teacher resource. Very practical.
Fun book with lots of great ideas for sensory activities March 22, 2009 J. Gilbert (West Des Moines, IA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this book! It is filled with simple, easy activities to engage your child's senses. The directions for each activity are very straight-forward and include helpful hints to save on cleanup and mess. While this is an invaluable resource for a parent or teacher of children with sensory issues, the activities are fun and would appeal to most kids. Another great thing about the book is that it groups together familiar songs and games when appropriate to stimulate a sense, such as movement or touch. Ms. Arwine includes stories and anecdotes about children with sensory issues to illustrate ways the activities can aid such children. Great resource!
A Fun Book February 10, 2009 Terri Heffington (Ozark, AR) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is full of fun things to do with kids to have fun and stimulate sensory motor skills and facilitate language, motor, and cognitive skills in the very young child. I use the activities with my grandchildren and while working with developmentally delayed children through our early intervention program. The activities are so engaging and simple to implement. I am glad that I ordered this book.
STARTING SENSORY INTEGRATION THERAPY November 1, 2007 S. Martin (Wilm, DE) my grandson is not at a level for most of the ideas but we will use them as he gets there.
