Product Description

Set in wartime Argentina, Gilda has fascinated both audiences and critics since its release in 1946. The film stars Rita Hayworth in her best-remembered role, as the title character, caught in a love triangle between a tough casino owner and a professional gambler (Glenn Ford). Melvyn Stokes' study of the film provides an in-depth account of its production history and addresses Rita Hayworth's complex star persona and ethnic identity; Gilda's status as a "noir" film; and what the film had to say about relations between men and women in a world transformed by war.

Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Mixed up tltles   June 5, 2008
Douglas K. Holm (Portland, OR USA)
This page says it is for Spirited Away, which already has its own separate page. This page is illustrated with the cover image of Agnes Vardas's Cleo from 5 to 7; this is a book that I have been trying to get from Amazon for months. Has it been misfiled? I;d like to get some clarity here so that I can finally get the BFI book on Cleo sent to me.
