Product Description Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

Wow! November 24, 2009 Gloria Ryan I have been hearing about this book for a couple of years, but I had neglected to read it. I regret that I had not done so before now. This is a book that I need to have on my personal library shelf to read again and again. So...... I have purchased two copies! One is for me and one is a gift for a dear friend. Many of us get "stuck" in our ideas about God. "The Shack" is wonderfully freeing and expands our thoughts and understanding. I wish everyone would read it!

This is a moving book. I bought one book for myself and after reading this book, decided to buy another copy for my mother.
Let me explain, my mother read and enjoyed the entire book, "MOM NEVER READS" fictional books but she loved this book. I told her that I believed that the story was true in words and that the overall message of the book touch my heart and spirit. This book allowed me and my mother an opportunity to express the relationship we share with the God of our understanding.
Hated It! November 24, 2009 J. McClelland (California, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When I bought this book at the airport, honestly all I read was murder (ahh, great murder mystery) and best-seller. I had no idea it was about to take me on an adventure through spirituality and a belief (or not) with God. Had I known, um, I would have passed! Frankly, I found this book really really bad.
LOVEDDDDD THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 23, 2009 hippie chick (usa) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I absolutely am IN LOVE with this book. I consider myself to have a "close" relationship with God, but I shy away from "religion". Reading this book was not only heart wrenching, warming and thoughtful, it really has made me FEEL closer to God, and yearn for a closer relationship with him. It really broke down how God would feel about us, and how much love and compassion GOD has for us. I reccommend this book to everyone, and I was always will. There are no words to describe how much I care about this book. I just finished, and im debating re-reading it again!!!
so, so boring November 23, 2009 Kelly Morris 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was really disappointed because I'd heard such great things about this book. But it was so dull I could not even force myself to finish it, and that is very unusual for me. I found it slow, boring, and preachy.
