Product Description
Belly fat is not only unsightly, it's deadly; it has been linked to a long list of adverse health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and breast cancer. Prevention's Flat Belly Diet, a revolutionary plan that's already helped more than one million people lose weight around their middles, may help target dangerous belly fat with monounsaturated fats (better known as MUFAs)—found in delicious foods like nuts and seeds, vegetable oils, olives, avocados, and dark chocolate. "The food...tastes so good, and there's so much of it!" On the Flat Belly Diet, it's important to enjoy these foods, in the right amounts, with every meal. The Flat Belly Diet! Cookbook makes that easy. All of the recipes were carefully developed to make sure every meal includes just the right amount of MUFAs and meets the plan's 400-calorie guideline, so readers can mix and match meals to suit their taste. And there's no need to count calories. All the work has already been done! "I had to get over all those years of denying myself.... I'm so excited by this diet." Packed with 200 dishes that feature these scrumptious fat-fighting MUFA-rich foods, as well as more than 50 lush photographs, this book gives readers plenty to whet their appetites: -Great-to-wake-up-to dishes like Banana Pancakes with Walnut Honey and Eggs Florentine with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto -International favorites like Thai Corn and Crab Soup and Caribbean Chicken Salad -Cozy comfort food like Spaghetti with Roasted Cauliflower and Olives and Turkey Meat Loaf with Walnuts and Sage -Quick, satisfying snacks like Tex-Mex Snack Mix, Peanut Butter Spirals, and Nutty Chicken Nuggets -Sweet treats like Super-Rich Chocolate Cake with Maple Frosting and Peach and Blueberry Tart with Pecan Crust

It works, but isn't easy. November 24, 2009 Danno (Atlanta) The diet works and seems to target the belly. My wife and I both have lost over 10 lbs. in less than 4 weeks. I've lost enough to have to tighten my belt a notch. I can tell she has lost weight too.
The down side is the recipes for the most part are not that simple, and not your everyday ingredients. (Pine nuts at $10 for a half pound? Come on.) You should be able to find a dozen or so recipes that you like and can afford to make. That will do to get you through a couple weeks to lose some weight, and inches. It would be tough to make this a life style diet though.
If you don't like olives or avocados, can't eat nuts, or just don't have time to prepare meals, this may not be for you. As always, save some money and look for a used book.
looks good November 21, 2009 David L. Keeney (Charleston, WV) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this book along with The Flat Belly Diet. I haven't got to use it yet since I'm just now starting this diet. The recipes look good and can't wait to try some of them.
Great Healthy Diet Plan! November 2, 2009 S. Skurla (Arizona) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
After a month following these recipes, I have lost 20 pounds. The portion control is key, but the recipes tasted great, while eliminating the always hungry feeling I have had on other diet plans. I would recommend these recipes to anyone who wants to lose weight and eat a healthier Mediterranean cuisine.
Flat Belly Diet Cookbook October 28, 2009 K. A. Grimes 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book has great recipes. I have made several and many of them were so good I served them to company and got rave reviews. Its wonderful to have great tasting meals that are also good for you.
This book is a great way to "break" bad cooking habits and find a much better way of eating.
Best diet cookbook yet!! October 23, 2009 Madeline Kotowski (Randallstown, MD) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought both the Flat Belly Diet Guide and the Cookbook. Both have been very helpful. I've made many meals for myself using this cookbook; the pesto is to die for and very easy to make. Once you get the hang of it, you can figure out other meals as well. I lost 5 lbs my first week -- and the only other time I lost that in a week was when I was on a one week Quick Start Program, which is about 800 calories. On the Flat Belly Diet I had 1400 calories, and that's what I'm still eating. The 2nd week I lost 3 lbs -- I've only been on this program for 2 1/2 weeks, but have lost 1 3/4" on my waist. My clothes are fitting much better and I'm never hungry. I've always had a yogurt in the afternoon and I still do, however I now add some sunflower seeds and some nutty granola. I also put sunflowers in my cereal, including oatmeal, in homecooked muffins, etc. I love pizza and now I make my own using whole wheat flour, plenty of veggies and lots of sliced black olives in order to get my MUFA's. It seems I can eat almost anything I want as long as I stay away from sugary foods and add MUFA's to everything else!! Actually I sometimes have a bowl of ice cream, but I doctor it up -- that's right -- sunflower seeds and nuts to the rescue again. I highly recommend these books and this diet!! Thanks Amazon for carrying these items.
