Product Description This title is the classic communist party manifesto which started this one and a half decade political movement. The seven rarely published prefaces, mostly written by Frederick Engels after the death of Karl Marx, are included making this publication the complete communist manifesto. Although this title is known as one of the most famous left-wing propagandist publications, it serves as a lesson for those of all political philosophies. The Communist Manifesto should be required reading when studying political science, radicalism and radical political thought.

KNOW YOUR ENEMY August 22, 2009 Fred W. Mcgill (Heber Springs, Ark.) 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
Someone wisely said "know your enemy." That's my only reason for reading The Communest Manifesto by Good ole Crazty Karl. It's not enough just to fight people and their ideologies on the surface but to know what's in their hearts and what inspires them. Thank God for the free market, liberty and justice and thank God for the wisdom we gain from learning about those who oppose them.
The origins of communism June 1, 2009 Beastman (New Jersey) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
For any historian this book is a must. For me it was a very enjoyable read. I can say some things I disagreed with but others were noble intentions. I won't spend time mentioning my opinions on here but I recommend this book to everyone. You can see where the roots of communism originated and see what is followed from this book but also what is strayed from by the modern day communists. Very briefly what I will say is I think this book has some noble intentions but were not strictly followed by the communists of the late 1800's and early to mid 1900's. Read the book for yourself and decide though. Good/bad/indifferent this book is history, it influenced radical change. Good/bad/indifferent, history actually happened and shaped the scope of the present day. Too often people criticize what they know nothing or very little about. Communism at its core roots starts right here. Btw for any judge-mental morons out there, I'm not pro-communist, I did however enjoy reading this book, learned alot and pondered some perspectives. Utopia is in the mind of the beholder.
No Matter Where You Stand On Communism, Read This April 19, 2009 Cerebellum 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Wherever you stand on the topic of Communism, you should read this book. In the Manifesto, Marx outlines exactly what Communists stand for and what they want government to be. It is a very simple and short book, intended to be a pamphlet easily understood by the masses. As mentioned above, wherever you stand on Communism, you will get something out of this book. Whether it confirms what you feel, makes you question your beliefs, or makes you wonder about things you have not wondered about before, the Communist Manifesto will do something for you.
Communism is certainly one of the most misunderstood words in America. It is used as a swear word in many cases, "He's a commie!" If everyone were to read this book, it would eliminate much of the ignorance that plagues the modern world. Personally, I am not to fond of Communism in history, but I think that certain aspects of Communism are very applicable to today's society. I think that many people would share that opinion, if they would only just honestly examine communism straight from the source, The Communist Manifesto.
One final word about the Communist Manifesto; I do not own this version of it. My version was loaded with introductions, footnotes, and end notes. The actual Manifesto only comprised a small portion of the thickness of the book. I assume that it will be the same wonderful story with this publication.
What kind of a read is The Communist Manifesto? March 30, 2009 S. Bovee 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book was purchased in order to preface reading The Fatal Conceit by Hayek.
The Communist Manifesto is a well known piece of literature. I was curious as to what precisely it contained.
The ideas have been in circulation for a considerable period of time now. Whether or not you've read this tome yourself, you will find yourself familiar with most of the contents. It is similar in that way to the christian bible.
The analysis of private property and class struggle provided are a counterpoint to the conventional dominant ideas in circulation today.
The theory of the book, though 'dated', is still useful to read when pursuing research into memes, culture, and the psychological motives behind social events and trends.
Some contradictions present themself, noticeable precisely because of the cultural developments which have occurred since original publication. Some ideas show themself to be time proven for the same reason.
In that sense, the book is worth reading, as a think spot and thought provoker, and as an illumination of what 'revolutionary thought' is and is not.
Communism... January 17, 2009 Ron Brown The Manifesto is short and concise, reasonably well-written. I keep it on hand as a reference from which parallels can be drawn. Few politicians realize their own policies were written about by Karl Marx.
