If you want to REALLY understand the NXT... April 18, 2009 Joeythunders (NY NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I coach an FLL team and have about a dozen NXT books. Many of them are great but this one is probably the most valuable. It focuses on fundamental concepts, that once grasped open up a world of possibilities.
This is not a "follow the instructions and build the ball bot" kind of book (although I love those too) but it is packed with valuable information. The info on differential gears is worth the price alone.
If you are an FLL coach - especially one like me who does not have a mech engineering background (I am a software guy) -- I recommend this for you.
Great book to learn more about Mindstorms February 15, 2009 C-diddy (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very detailed book about Mindstorms. It has been fun to work on the concepts with my 11 yearold son. We look forward to building more advance robots as we learn more. Great into to programing and engineering for kids.
Great book February 25, 2008 John S. Kjellman (Orland Park, IL United States) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Great book with lots of ideas on NXT robot building. The author, Mario Ferrari, does an excellent job of describing each and bringing unique ideas to the table.
Good Book November 7, 2007 Railrho (Boston, MA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
A good book with clear explanations and a non-intimidating style for beginners.
A more detailed look at the NXT-G programming language would have been helpful, as this is the program that comes with the NXT retail kit.
Inspirational September 25, 2007 Paulette (Australia) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This book is just fantastic. Starts out with the basics for building strong stable robots, and moves on to more complex ideas. Great examples of robots throughout the book which will provide ideas for building your own masterpiece.
It doesn't have step by step instructions, and is more of an ideas book for NXT enthusiasts.
I'd recommend this for your home or Robotics club library.
