Product Description

Rereko is just your average high-school girl from Electopia, the land of electricity, but she's totally failed her final electricity exam! Now she has to go to summer school on Earth. And this time, she has to pass

Luckily, her ever-patient tutor Hikaru is there to help. Join them in the pages of "The Manga Guide to Electricity" as Rereko examines everyday electrical devices like flashlights, heaters, and circuit breakers, and learns the meaning of abstract concepts like voltage, potential, current, resistance, conductivity, and electrostatic force.

The real-world examples that you'll find in "The Manga Guide to Electricity" will teach you: What electricity is, how it works, how it's created, and how it can be used The relationship between voltage, current, and resistance (Ohm's law) Key electrical concepts like inductance and capacitance How complicated components like transformers, semiconductors, diodes, and transistors work How electricity produces heat and the relationship between current and magnetic fields

If thinking about how electricity works really fries your brain, let "The Manga Guide to Electricity" teach you all things electrical in a shockingly fun way.

4 out of 5 stars a picture is worth a thousand words   October 17, 2009

This book and the others in this series, offer an excellent introduction into the basic terms and principles of their topic. Particularly, with Electricity the expressions and comparison to everyday items helps to quickly understand the concepts. I prefer this series over the "idiot's guide to" ones because it doesn't degrade the reader as and idiot from the onset. Pick it up. I recommend it.

haven't finished reading but so far it's a fun way to learn about electricity. Includes practical info.

Cutest Textbook EVER! Very practical and easy to understand even for someone with little or no math or physics background.

5 out of 5 stars The manga guide...and schoool   August 19, 2009

I bought this book because I'm having trouble understanding physics concepts at school, like what volt would mean and a.c generators. I like this book because it explains everything very clearly, and the pictures help to imprint it in the mind, plus the story line links everything together so its coherent and can be read in one go.

I seriously recommend this book for anyone who is interested in physics or is very muddled up in the basic concepts (It also covers a little bit of chemistry when it talks about electrolysis and making a cell).

It's good quality book and can even entice my little sister (who doesn't like to read) to pick it up even though she isn't even taking physics.

Rereko is your average high-school girl from Electopia, land of electricity, and has just failed her final electricity exam. Now she has to go to Earth summer school to pass. An illustrated collection of insights examines everyday electrical devices and how they operate, pairing real-world examples with tips on how electricity functions, voltage relationships, capacitance and more. Any library strong in visual science guides will find this a winner.
