Eureka, finally something for real people November 24, 2009 Robert E. Doernberg (Manhattan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At University, I failed health and nutrition. I said failed, not flunked. Maybe the subject matter didn't capture my attention like hisotry or literature at the time. As I look back, it had more to do with how the content of health and nutrition was presented. Not easy nor fun. I enjoy reading Elisa Zied's work because she always has fantatic advice that is practical, engaging and not wordy. It makes sense to me and offers guidence I can actually use to live a better life. I now have great resource to understand so much more about my health and eating choices. It is refreshing to have a source for the consumer. Its arrival on the market is perfect as I have spent the last eight months in the gym but know what I'm eating is not always the right choice. I do not have the best balance and now I have a guide to continue on this path toward a healthy lifestyle. I really recommend Nutrition at Your Fingertips.

Dietitian Recommends this Resource! November 19, 2009 Milton Stokes (Stamford, CT) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a clinical dietitian in practice, I am always on the look out for useful tools that my patients can rely on. The problem tends to be sifting through voluminous amounts of resources to find the ones with credible, science-based information that are useful to consumers. Elisa's hits the nail on the head here. Her book is essential for quick info. Easy to read. Easy to use. I highly recommend this book.
Trainer Tested, Trainer Approved November 16, 2009 Cait Morth, NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My client asks me, "What foods other than whole grains are high in fiber?" We opened to page 16 and skimmed the list for her favorites. My friend wonders why her doctor recommended an increase in vitamin D3. The answer was on page 78. I have cook for someone with celiac disease and need to know what was safe to eat. Page 260. In the one week I've had Nutrition At Your Fingertips, I cracked it open every single day. It is my go-to reference for all the questions and curiousities that arise in both my profession ("What exactly is trans fat?") and among my friends ("If my dad has metabolic syndrome, can I take steps to prevent it?"). Elisa Zied clearly and concisely demystifies the complexities of nutrition. This book should be in every home, right next to the family dictionary. (You'll probably refer to it more often!)
Handy and useful resource! November 14, 2009 Andy Bellatti (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a soon-to-be Registered Dietitian finishing up his Master's degree in nutrition, I can attest that this reference guide to all things nutrition is not only exhaustive and well-researched, it is also a great "go-to" source when you want a concise answer to any question.
Topics are easy to find, and chapters are broken down into small sub-sections that give you the rundown on a variety of topics. User-friendly navigation at its best.
I provided some research assistance to this book and witnessed first hand all the hard work and dedication Elisa Zied, MS, RD put in over the course of an entire year.
It's also refreshing to see a nutrition book that doesn't include the words "thin", "skinny", or "look fabulous" in its title or on the book jacket!
