As an avid student of Mayan cosmology over the past few years, I have devoured the works of Calleman, among others. Everything I have read, up until The Purposeful Universe, has left me with a number of questions. Those questions have now been answered by Dr. Calleman in this very important work. I am a metaphysician, rather than a scientist, but Dr. Calleman's explanations have clarified much about phsyics and biology for me, even if I had to work pretty hard to understand it all! So many nuggets of truth are contained within these pages and, for me, they have served to fuel the glowing embers of hope I hold for humanity and the future. I have understood for some time that we are here courtesy of a Cosmic plan; with the information in The Purposeful Universe, I now have an understanding of the mechanics behind the plan, an understanding that is soothing to the secular part of my being that I just don't seem able to shake loose! This is a MUST READ for anyone seeking an explanation of Creation that is, nonetheless, firmly rooted in science.

Here is a seminal work that comes at the most critical time in human history. Profound enough is the notion that our existence, in fact all of life, is not an accident. Yet Dr Calleman goes further and lays down compelling scientific evidence that the universe itself is on purpose, a purpose revealed in the origin and structure of the universe and in the operation our very cells. Purposeful Universe tells the story of this purpose juxtaposed on the Mayan Calendar and ends with a startling conclusion that is sure to stimulate controversy. Dr Calleman offers deep biology, cosmology and sacred geometry in a wonderful scientific articulation. Hypothesis and theory of an amazing connection of the backbone of the universe and Mayan Cosmology and how it permeates throughout all quantum levels of existence. It can depart cathartic seeds of an alternative view to the basis of our universe. Introduces connections to the golden ratio and the Fibonnaci sequence with basic elements of life. Makes a new approach at connecting Darwinian and Theological views. As Carl Calleman explains, the Greeks introduced two separate ways of measuring or quantifying time. The first is measured time as we know it (Chronos) and the other the progression of changes in the natural world (Kairos) (i.e. weather or seasons). The Mayans perfected a system of combining both into a calendar that aligns itself not only with evolution of life, but with the entire universe as a backdrop and everything in between.
As expressed by the author and in line with my opinion, it opens the mind to amazing new possibilities that are far reaching and need to be researched further (i.e. health advances).
I think it points to thoughts of us being able to create a metaphorical and/or literal antenna that can receive the knowledge and wisdom that sits in the central tree of life of our universe. This tree of life, which possibly permeates everything like a hologram and/or a fractal system, is in all quantum levels of existence waiting for us to find it and use it.
The synchronicities of the theory are vast not only in the present day, but throughout history and I consider them in proper alignment.
It may clash or contrast with your personal beliefs, but even in that case it will impart an alternative possibility, which can prove only to further your quest for the truth.
A must read for anyone serious about evolutionary history and a unifying theory of existence.
