2 out of 5 stars Not an easy reader   August 28, 2009

After purchasing this book and reading it I found that it was not an "easy read." It had a lot of medical jargon and was very "over the top."!!!!!! Needless to say, I would not suggest purchasing this book;however some of the things were somewhat helpful.

5 out of 5 stars About what I expected   July 12, 2009

I had hoped the book would answer some questions about the diet.
It did. Has a decent listing of remedies for various illness.

1 out of 5 stars eat healthier and you will feel better.   June 5, 2009

Come on, this is not the first time to see this "stuff" go around the block, among other fad diets. If you read it, does it mean it's true? Or, do you believe it and you will feel better?
Most people don't eat right and when you improve any eating habits(your dietary intake) you will improve your heath physically and mentally. That I think we can all agree on. Include proper exercise, cut out the (over used)meds, alcohol, processed foods and excess in our diets for a period of time and see how your heath improves and/or body heals.

Hype/marketing over good judgement still seems to sell books .

4 out of 5 stars Type A - avoid DAIRY is you are asthmatic! so very true!   May 14, 2009

Hello:

I just started reading this book, May 2009. I am a 40 year old female, from New York.
I had heard about it years ago, and what it indicated for my blood type, A. I have always wanted to be a vegitarian, since a teenage, but could never fully make the 'leap'. I have always disliked meat, and stopped eating red meat in 1996, and only ate poultry from then until 2008.
I have had asthma since the age of 2 years old, and have been on daily medication for the last 25 years. I also had allergies, which may or may not have been attributed to living with cats.
Since 4/2008, I started a VEGAN diet- which I love! About 3 months into the Vegan diet, I tried to go off of my daily Advair, but after a week, felt too tight in the chest. I tried again a couple of months later, and after the first couple of weeks getting used to the different feeling in my chest/breathing- I was able to completely stop all meds for asthma! ( I also no longer have cats)
I can only attribute this to stopping all dairy in my diet! Even when getting exerted, which would always bring on the chest tightness, I have not needed my rescue inhaler. Even while having a long 3 week bout with chest congestion from a cold during the winter months, I didnt have any asthma symptoms! (I was quite shocked by that! I thought surely being congested would bring it on)
Last month I visited with family in Florida that had a dog, I took daily OTC allergy pills and didnt have any sneezing/wheezing at all! Normally, I couldnt stay more than a couple of hours in anyones house if they had a dog (even while on Rx meds for allergies/asthma) without wheezing and sneezing!
So, my suggestion to anyone out there with asthma who is a type A- try getting off of the dairy (soy is a great alternative!) I know how hard it is, I LOVE (loved?) cheese! But, stick with it and you may just became asthma-free! Also, try reading the book 'Skinny Bitch' if you want more encouragement on removing dairy from your diet.

I read in this book about how dairy affects type A's with asthma, and it couldnt have been more true for me! Remember, I went off dairy 4/2008 and didnt read the book until 5/2009!

I will start incorporating more of the ideas in this book into my diet, to see what else can be done.
The hard one is going to be giving up tomatoes!

I wish everyone luck with their health~

Alexis Powers -
