This popular guidebook provides quick and handy access to the entire language of the mental health professions. More than a giant collection of synonyms, the Thesaurus offers practical guidelines for how to shape raw data into a cogent report. Thousands of useful words, phrases, and interview questions are provided to help practitioners collect the client information they need and accurately describe almost any clinical situation. New features of the fifth edition include numerous additional terms; an integrative introduction and overview; reproducible forms for documenting client mental status and producing a managed-care compatible treatment plan; updated listings of psychiatric medications; and suggested readings on assessment and report writing. The book is designed for maximum ease of use with a large format and lay-flat binding. Comprehensive and up-to-date, the Clinician's Thesaurus is an indispensable tool for professionals who wish to streamline their reporting tasks.

Resource for Counseling Psychology Students July 5, 2009 Ellyn Herb (San Jose, CA) This is a great book for helping beginning psychotherapists (and students in training). I use it to teach Master's level students about psychotherapy skills. It has loads of clinical information, how to interview clients, information about various disorders and treatments, and is a great resource for writing psychological reports. I highly recommend this book for training therapists (not bad for those of us who have practice for years either). It is a resource to keep for years.

Great help when looking for key words for assessments June 17, 2009 Teresa L. Fresquez (Washington, DC) Wish I had this earlier in my graduate program. This has assisted me with finding clear definer words for my assessments, and they read so much more professional now.
Super! June 1, 2009 Jennifer Lui (Portland, OR) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful

Clinician's Thesauras (6th Ed.) by E. Zuckerman February 16, 2009 Dr. R. L. Levenson Jr. (New York, NY USA) Over 22 years as a school psychologist and clinician, I view this book as a "must-have" for psychologists in every specialty because the author provides hundreds of ways to describe, with acute accuracy, what we see from our professional standpoint. If graduate psychology students had this book in their personal libraries, it would make for better understanding of "how to" say what they mean, as well as higher grades on reports.
After 6 editions, Dr. Zuckerman's work gets better and better. Buy it.
