Product Description Everyone knows that a daily diet rich in fruits and vegetables can prevent obesity, diabetes, heart-disease and even some types of cancer. But most people don't eat anywhere near the recommended amount. The step-by-step plan in Green Smoothies RX shows how to transform one's health and avoid an array of preventable diseases by tapping the super nutrition found in leafy greens. The cornerstone of the program is the author's taste-tested method for turning the traditional sugar-filled smoothie into a superb, nutrient-packed drink that has the healing power of greens while retaining the vitamin content and delicious taste of the blended fruit. Green Smoothies RX offers the fastest, easiest way to get one's daily dose—or more—of fruits and vegetables in a quick and pleasing drink. The author presents nutrition facts and scientific evidence so readers can understand how each element of the plan and each ingredient in the smoothies offer tremendous benefits such as dramatically improved skin and hair tone, increased daily energy and a strengthened immune system. There are fifty recipes that take the guesswork out of making satisfying green smoothies every day.

Not bad, but not great November 3, 2009 G. Recipient (Northern California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've enjoyed the author's Green Smoothie Girl website - so much so, I even purchased a Blendtec from Costco during a demo. Love, love, love the Blendtec. That aside, this book was a bit disappointing.
As I read through, I found just as I was interested in a particular subject, she'd write that the subject is explored entirely in her other book - 12 Steps to Whole Foods. That was very annoying. My understanding was that this book would be able to stand alone without having to buy a another to aid in explanation. That is, it was not labeled as a part 1 of 2 volumes.
The parenting advice was also irritating. The suggestion that a child's unfinished smoothie return at each meal until he/she finishes the smoothie, is a bit too "Mommie Dearest" for me. Plus, I don't know anyone that presents healthy choices to a child next to pizza or candy - which she discusses on p.76.
Now for the positives - I really appreciated both on her site and in her book that she critiqued blenders. Since premium blenders are pricey, it was refreshing to have someone honestly review the product. I also like that she discusses the fact that processed junk is often considered acceptable nutrition for the under privileged.
I am glad I chose to purchase from Amazon instead of her site, as it is considerably cheaper on Amazon. Overall, I do not regret purchasing.
Practical, useful, step-by-step help! LOVED it! October 29, 2009 Nicole Sargent (Heber, Utah, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I LOVED this book, read it cover to cover so quick, and marked it all up real good. It is a manual I will keep in my kitchen. I have been drinking green smoothies for 10 months and had already read about them in other books. But THIS BOOK, has helped me take it to the next level. It has already improved them for me and my family. I love the way Robyn Openshaw teaches about making green smoothies. She offers practical, useful, step-by-step help, and she KNOWS her stuff. Robyn's book has increased my interest in them, and I learned so much more about why they are so important. I have gone from one pint to one quart at her suggestion. From the book I have learned how to help improve them for taste, as well as for getting more bang from my buck, so to speak. I learned all about the different leafy greens, and why we want each one. I learned about all the health benefits gained from drinking them. I learned about superfood addtions that I especially appreciated, and have implemented. I really liked the information about getting kids to like them. She even suggests where and how to purchase certain things that were new to me. I loved that. This book was chuck full of helpful tips and I am totally grateful to the author for putting it together. It is a must-have if you want to benefit from drinking your leafy-greens!!! Thanks to you Robyn Openshaw!
One Word: AWESOME!! October 7, 2009 Just a Guy who loves to read (Phoenix, AZ USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My wife and I embarked on a journey into the world of "Green" to help overcome her breast cancer and various nagging issues related to our overall health. "Green" means organic, raw, unprocessed, real food. We now juice organic veggies every day and this book has helped us have a variety of healthy choices.
This "Green" campaign has increased our stamina, provided an overall incredible level of clear thinking, remarkable sex and has done some amazing things for my wife's breast cancer. The light at the end of the tunnel is becoming a blinding blast from the sun.
I highly recommend this book for the health aspects and also to give a variety so the "Green" in your life will not be such minimal choices.
A Prescription for Great Health October 5, 2009 Denise Punger MD IBCLC (Port Saint Lucie, Fl United States) I've been following Robyn's blog and her 12 step program for over a year and telling many of my patients about her links for green smoothies. Reading this book focused exclusively on green smoothies inspires me and re-affirms my commitment to this lifestyle. I am glad to have this book, dedicated to the first step in her 12 steps program.
It's common sense to eat your spinach (and greens). Popeye and your mother both know and share that knowledge. Yet, many people resist good nutrition. Robyn's green smoothie approach makes it SIMPLE to incorporate raw geens into your diet everyday. As I recommend green smoothies to more and more of my patients, it's become obvious how important greens are to optimal health. We have more control over our health than we are usually led to believe. Like a prescription for better health, now I have one more way to share Robyn's wisdom with my practice.

The best thing for healthy living. October 1, 2009 Yellow Lab (Hawaii USA) A friend raved about "The green smoothies diet" book she purchased from Amazon and how easy to purchase it online. After briefly reading her book, I had to try it, it was so painless and I received it so quickly. I keep the book with me and try different recipes and got to have my green smoothie once or twice a day. Thank you Amazon for assisting me for a healthy daily living.
