More Read and Understand, Grade 3 has 21 one-and two-page stories that vary in reading difficulty from mid-second through beginning fourth grade to meet the need of the an average third grade classroom.The types of stories include:fairy tales, fables, tall tales, realistic fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Some story titles are "Paddy and the Giant Potato," "Bats," "The Shark Lady," "Pecos Bill," "The Mystery of the Missing Blue Shoe," and "Cactus?a Desert Plant." Practice activities for every story include: a comprehension page, a word meaning page and a phonetic element. Other skills practiced include: sequencing events, parts of speech, possessives, syllables, homophones and recording information. The stories and practice materials can be used for directed lessons with small groups or individual students or as independent practice activities in class or at home. The reading levels in each book span several grades to ensure that appropriate material for most all students is provided.
