5 out of 5 stars science   January 31, 2010

the book is great; however, the bag it was shipped in was stuffed into our mailbox causing the corner to be creased. I didn't want to pay postage to return the item so I just kept it creased corner and all

5 out of 5 stars Awesome book!   December 28, 2008

We love this book. It gives a few pages for topics but it is awesome to build on and my son loves to get his science book out!

I really like this book and I'm very glad that we bought it.

5 out of 5 stars A Handy Reference for Science Reproducibles   December 9, 2008

Plain black and white outline images, diagrams, charts, flashcards, etc. fill this book. Each page is good for coloring in and then making notebooking pages or minibooks for a lapbook. A great supplement book to any science curriculum for elementary grades. I'd say it's too simplistic for grades 5-6.

4 out of 5 stars Will this work in my classroom?   September 30, 2008

I ordered this book to use as a resource for planning science lessons. I teach students in grades K-2 and this book is designed for students from the 1st through the 6th grade. I was hoping that there would be quite a bit for the young students in my classes. One of the things I was excited about was the fact that this book covers all branches of science--life science, earth science, and physical science.
After receiving the book, I took the time to really look through it and see what could be used in my class. There are definitely sections that are geared toward early elementary students and other sections that are geared toward the upper levels. Unfortunately, there were not materials for each unit that would span all grade levels. If there were, this would allow for differentiation for the struggling and also the gifted students in the classroom. In addition, I do have some other products from Evan-Moor (such as Plants, Grades 1-3) and some of the reproducibles in the Resource Book are identical to what is found in the individual unit books.
Overall, I am pleased with content in the resource book. However, the usefulness of the book depends on what units you are teaching to a particular grade--this book will most likely not be the only source of supplemental material you will need.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing resource for elementary science!   April 16, 2008

I agree with the other reviewer, buy the E-Book from Evan-Moor instead of the book version. This is a fabulous, all encompassing resource for 1-6 science. You could even use this book to structure your science studies for the grade levels.

This is the first resource I've seen that is budget efficient and not dumbed down for children. It is age-appropriate and uses correct scientific terms instead of describing something simply as if a child could not grasp the concept of an invertebrate. This could be the core of your child's science notebook.
