Under the cover of wintry dark shadows, passion's magic ignites a fire too hot to touch -- and too wicked to die....

DEEP KISS OF WINTER

Two never-before-published paranormal stories to delight the senses and tantalize the imagination!

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR

KRESLEY COLE

delivers a breathtaking tale of a brutal vampire soldier about to know love for the first time...and a Valkyrie aching to be touched.

Murdoch Wroth will stop at nothing to claim Daniela the Ice Maiden -- the delicate Valkyrie who makes his heart beat for the first time in three hundred years. Yet the exquisite Danii is part ice fey, and her freezing skin can't be touched by anyone but her own kind without inflicting pain beyond measure. Soon desperate for closeness, in an agony of frustration, Murdoch and Danii will do anything to have each other. Together, can they find the key that will finally allow them to slake the overwhelming desire burning between them?

NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR

GENA SHOWALTER

puts a daring spin on a tale of huntress and hunted...and concocts a sensual chemistry that is positively explosive.

Aleaha Love can be anyone -- literally. With only skin-to-skin contact, she can change her appearance, assume any identity. Her newest identity switch has made her an AIR (alien investigation and removal) agent and sends her on a mission to capture a group of otherworldly warriors. Only she becomes the captured. Breean, a golden-skinned commander known for his iron will who is at once dangerous and soul-shatteringly seductive, threatens her new life. Because for the first time, Aleaha only wants to be herself....

3 out of 5 stars 2.5 stars for each authors' efforts   March 12, 2010
L. Pecone (Colorado)
I am a huge Kresley Cole fan, but this story left me cold. Most of the novellete was annoying. It focused on trivial things. It was hard to get attached to either character. Daniella was probably more appealing because of your empathy to her loneliness. Imagine never being able to touch or be touched. Murdoch was so one dimensional. He really had no depth to him. His tale went much like this, lady's man in life, in death (or rebirth) he had no interest in females, until.... he met Daniella. Daniella 'blooded' him because she was his 'bride', but he still lacked passion to settle down with one woman. Why, I asked, when he wasn't interested in having relationships with other women. I won't reveal too much about their sexual relationship, remember she couldn't be touched or touch another, a little difficult to write much passion with this dilemma going on. Suffice it to say, icicles do not turn me on. Ok, on to Gena Showalter, boring. Too many unimportant details which were way too much to try to follow. Nuff said, don't waste your money on this unless you are, like me, a stickler for finishing a series.

2 out of 5 stars Think twice before you buy.   February 21, 2010

@S.Clayborne. OMG You said exactly what I just felt. Finished reading the book 30 minutes ago. I love the IAD series so even at 50% it was acceptable for me. Yes it was fast food reading but the story was still touching nonetheless. For the record, I HATE ANTHOLOGIES. You always get stuck with one or two stories that suck. Unfortunately, I paid a rediculous amount for the book in hardcover based solely on the fact that Cole had written the major story in the book. If you can believe this I have 3 Showalter books in my to read piles (they have been there for MONTHS), but never have been able to get around to reading them. Now I know why! Tempt me Eternally was HORRIBLE! I stayed with it for the first few chapters as I too thought the shapeshifting abilities of the heroine was going to lead to an interesting story. Was I wrong. I quickly started skipping page after page and then I just frankly closed the book. If you are a fan of the IAD series by Cole buy the book, but buy it used or in paperback. Thats the best advice I can give. That and don't waste your time reading the second story.

5 out of 5 stars Forbearers' Tales-Save this for last   February 21, 2010

This book has to be read last among the IAD - forbearers' tales. If you want to enjoy K. Cole's series I do recommend to read Playing Easy to Get (Myst and Nikolai) first, then No Rest for the Wicked (The Immortals After Dark, Book 2)(Kaderin and Sebastian), then Dark Desires After Dusk (The Immortals After Dark, Book 5)(Noemi and Conrad), and of course this one. These books are very easy read and at some points LOL funny. I like the Lykae (Lachlain, Bowen, and Garreth) tales too but for some reason I cannot bring myself to start with the daemons' tales...maybe soon.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome book!   February 8, 2010

There's almost nothing like having two great authors write two amazing stories in one book! They're just both great reads to both series.
