Product Description Now in its third edition, this best selling full-color text is better than ever! We retained all the special features from the previous edition including Career Focus; As the Body Ages; Health Alert; Common Disease, Disorders, and Conditions; Concept Maps, and Body Systems Working Together to Maintain Homeostasis, and added four new features to enhance your learning, broaden your experience of the anatomy and physiology material and help you put it all together. Designed for a one-semester course, this book introduces learners in the allied health field with little or no prior biology knowledge to anatomy and physiology. Content is organized according to body systems, and focuses on the body working together to promote homeostasis. Chapters are self-contained so instructors can teach in any order preferred. Essential laboratory exercises included at the end of chapters provide hands-on lab experience. Key terms with phonetic pronunciations help build vocabulary. The CD-ROM that accompanies the book engages you in learning through interactive activities, quizzes and animations. The book offers a comprehensive supplemental package to support multiple learning styles and leverages the latest technology.

Almost what I needed ... May 18, 2009 Samantha R The book itself is laid out very nicely. It's easy to follow, even though there is an extensive amount of information in each chapter. I was disappointed in the interactive CD that came with the book. I could not get it to work using different Windows programs. I would have liked to use the CD as a review tool. Other than that, it was a good purchase.
Boring writing April 18, 2009 M. Rafferty (Upstate NY) I had to buy this book as it is required reading for the medical transcription course I am taking. Reading this book is only what I can describe as painful. It's boring, boring, boring. I've resorted to watching You Tube video lectures on anatomy to learn what I have to learn, then I go back to the book and skim over the content. The ONLY good thing about this book is that it came with a a CD which has review exercises and practice tests. These review exercises are fun, although they only cover about 1/2 of the content of each chapter and the questions are redundant between the different types of exercises. I chose to purchase the book at Amazon because the prices are always the BEST.
timely arrival butCD is blank December 28, 2008 Kate (Chesapeake VA) I was trying to be very careful to make sure this book had the CD. So I was very disappointed to find the CD is blank and worthless.
Anatomy & Physiology Basics August 16, 2008 Anne R. Taverna (Westhampton Beach, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In its most simplistic form, Rizzo defines the human body and functions with great illustrations. A basic necessity for anyone entering the healthcare industry. An excellent beginners book for those seeking a HIT career!
EXCELLENT August 10, 2008 Karen Vermillion Turner (Odum, Ga.) The service was great, very reliable. We got prompt delivery and service. I'll do it again when we need another book. Thank you.
