 APA Manual being recalled November 22, 2009

The FIRST PRINTING of the APA Publication Manual had so many errors that the APA office is offering to replace it with a SECOND printing between now and 15 Dec 09. I successfully replaced my copy purchased via AMAZON.com and hope the buyers at AMAZON will replace their FIRST printings with the corrected 2nd printing copies.

Unfortunately, this product is full of errors--ironic for a style guide. As bad, the book arrived in a beat up envelope that was mostly open. The corners of the book were bent. I suggest waiting for the next printing of the APA Manual and insist that Amazon do a better job of packing products--the open envelope and damaged book was a first for me from Amazon.

Unfortunately this publication has several errors in it's first publication. However, it is possible to return the book and have it replaced with the corrected version.

I have not yet bought this edition, though I need to very soon. I know that there were numerous errors with the first printing of the sixth edition. I agree that it is inexcusable to have so many errors in a publication manual. However, I believe that the second printing is already available for purchase, with all of the corrections. I also got the following information from the APA website for those who already own the first printing:
"Many people have found that the corrections supplement meets their needs; if you find, however, that it doesn't meet yours, we will provide you an exchange replacement copy of the second printing of the Publication Manual at no cost to you. (The second printing corrects all identified errors.) We are making this replacement process available to individuals and institutions who have purchased the manual.
In order to receive an exchange replacement manual, you must return your current copy of the sixth edition to APA no later than December 15, 2009.
We would like to make this transaction as cost neutral to you as possible. A process has been created to provide you with a UPS postage paid return label that you can use to return the book to us. Please call the APA Service Center at 800-374-2721 for more information about the paid return postage process."

It has been recalled due to all the errors in it. I hope that people contact APA so that they can get the revised edition. This is not a fault of Amazon. Hopefully, all customers will purchase the revised edition in the future.
