Product Description
Adapted from the original bestselling novel, The Christmas Sweater: A Picture Book is the story of a young boy who finds the true meaning of Christmas in the most unlikely of places. Eddie wants a bicycle for Christmas, but his mother knits him a homemade sweater instead. His disappointment is obvious, but a magical journey makes Eddie realize that the sweater is far more than it seems. Ultimately it teaches him that the true meaning of a gift is that it is given with love.

3 out of 5 stars average book   November 19, 2009

I love Glen beck, but there was nothing special about this book to me. It seemed like an average christmas book. The pictures were very nice, but I think it would be best to borrow it from the library instead of buying it.

I am so pleased with my purchase of "The Christmas Sweater: A Picture Book." I am certain it will become a classic. It is a warm story that is just right for the Christmas season. Each year I like to get books for my grandchildren. This year I am choosing this book. I was also pleased to find that Amazon has the best price I have found. Congrats!

4 out of 5 stars Snow Globe Magic and Christmas   November 19, 2009

This reviewer has been fascinated with Snow Globes since I first saw one as a kid. Most people in this nation have probably shared the magic of turning the glass ball over and watching one swirling snowstorm after another. I'm also guilty of having accidentally broken one of these test tube-like globes.
Since my children are all grown but no grandkids have yet arrived I'm not certain how age appropriate this picture book really is. My biggest gripe with it was that it was only 40-pages of beautiful illustrations by Brandon Dorman.
The story is charming and helps any child better understand what is really important about the Santa Claus Christmas without ever mentioning religion. So if the buyer is looking for a religious aspect, it isn't in this secular child's book other than including Saint Nicholas.
It's hard to understand some of the tags associated with this book listing including
"Keeping America stupid, indoctrination, brainwashing," etc. The book is a great story for all kids and it transcends politics. The parents reading this kid book to their children will probably enjoy it as much or more than the children.
Anyone who seriously criticizes this book is a Grinch who really is trying to steal Christmas.
For readers who wish to have a book emphasizing more of the religious meaning of Christmas, this reviewer is currently reading and reviewing Mike Huckabee's excellent book "A Simple Christmas: Twelve Stories That Celebrate the True Holiday Spirit." It's also an inspiring read.
