Product Description

A century ago, Napoleon Hill began researching and writing his classic, Think and Grow Rich— which sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. On this 100th anniversary comes a fresh and modern look at the core theme of Hill’s master work.

Three Feet from Gold takes the principle of never giving up from the revolutionary best seller and presents it in a new and modern fable. A young writer sets out to interview business leaders and other influential figures of today about the importance of persistence in attaining your goals—including Dave Liniger, chairman and co-founder of Re/Max; John St. Augustine, producer of “Oprah and Friends” Radio Programming; Debbi Fields, founder of Mrs. Fields Cookies; boxing champ Evander Holyfield; Symphony Orchestra conductor Jahja Ling; the Nobel nominated founders of Childhelp.org, Yvonne Fedderson and Sara O’Meara; and NASCAR President Mike Helton. Through these inspirational real-life stories, Three Feet from Gold offers advice about having passion for what you do, finding your own personal Success Formula, choosing good counsel, and above all: never giving up.

5 out of 5 stars Entrepreneural minded folks must read this book!   November 24, 2009
Godley Girl (Nevada)
Many people feel that a bad attitude or outlook on life does not negatively impact your life or your business goals, but it does. Very early on in the book you read how a bad attitude affected the outcome of one of the main characters. You read how he had to address his shortcomings and change how he viewed life and how a simple change in atttitude can make the difference between failure and victory.

5 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put it Down   November 24, 2009
Criss Ittermann (Middletown, NY)
I'm in the middle of reading a half dozen business books -- even though Timothy Ferris (4-Hour Workweek) said you should only read one at a time. I started Three Feet from Gold and couldn't put it down -- I finished it over a weekend. I have been vacuuming up so many business books over the past several years, and self-help books (aka "Shelf Help Books" for those who read but don't follow the advice) for about 20 years, to the exclusion of purely recreational reading. This book was such a refreshing change. What I liked about this book is the allegory as a writing instrument through the whole book. I liked it enough that I want to use that style throughout my own books.

This experiential stream-of-consciousness writing style takes you on the journey through the lessons in the book with blunt illustrations of their impact in our lives through the life of author Greg Reid. We see the realistic rolling up & down, and the humility of "I've been in the pits, and it was a struggle to get to a better place" that we can all resonate with. If you're looking for a book that's going to take you down on the mat and pummel you with high-n-mighty advice, that's not this book. There is a quality of humility and curiosity through this book that is humbling.

Three Feet from Gold is a great journey for the beginner or intermediate, or a refreshing breathtaking pause for the self-help guru who's tired of left-brain pummeling their right-brain into submission with facts & information. The right brain wants stories, tales, examples, pictures, imagination, emotion, and most business and self-help books do not deliver. A read through Three Feet from Gold will work for teens and adults with no experience with Think & Grow Rich, people who want to re-read Think & Grow Rich but aren't sure if it applies to modern living, or people who need a breather from the clinical business works but don't want the pure fantasy of a fiction story.

1 out of 5 stars Bad!   November 21, 2009

I do not understand how this book has such a high rating. This book is terribly written and meant for 3rd graders if anyone. It is simply a marketing tool for "Think and Grow Rich" as well as the authors themselves.

5 out of 5 stars A vitalizing and inspiring read   November 14, 2009
Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA)
A successful man does not give up as obstacles, but instead turns tragedy into triumph. "Three Feet From Gold: Turn Your Obstacles Into Opportunities" is a follow up to Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, offering much wisdom that will stack on top of that book's lessons. Encouraging people not to give up when things look their worst, and to push themselves further, "Three Feet from Gold" is a vitalizing and inspiring read that should not be overlooked for those who want to improve their successes in life.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent motivation!   November 12, 2009
Michaela Graham
I bought the book on Saturday and read small parts every day. Am almost through and love it! Being a 'do-er', it motivated me to start a master-mind group with several other women do-ers to brainstorm. We'll have our first meeting next week. Love the story-board format, like Rich Dad, Poor dad. I've noticed several negative reviews here and I think they are done by people that are extremely detail oriented, so that they put so much emphasis on each tree, that they don't see the forest. If you look at the big movers and shakers, they are people that are able to look at the 'Big picture' and that's what this book is about. It's about the attitude, the motivation, the overall situation and how to address it. If you're someone that gets completely hung up on little details, then this is probably not for you.
