Huge help October 6, 2009 Nicholas E. Reiter (West Decatur, PA) This book not only demystifies how the whole interview and admissions committee process works, but also provides a structured way of organizing everything youve done in your life and how to categorically recall pertinent experiences. It also includes the 3 things that "by hook or by crook", you should always substantiate in an interview (you should substantiate EVERYTHING with examples, but definitely show the interviewer that (liberal paraphrase) 1) you have succeeded in academic or otherwise stressful and rigorous environments, 2) you've seen the ugly/frustrating side of medicine and still want to pursue an MD/DO, and 3) you have a general understanding of the state of health care and the profession)
You've already invested over $100,000 over 4 years in order to apply to medical school, the price of this book is a drop in the bucket and will prepare you for arguably the make-or-break point in the admissions committee's decision over whether to let you in or not.
Good Information September 12, 2009 J. FitzPatrick I bought this for my daughter and she has three colleges interested so far. I also read the book. I'm sure that preparation in half of the battle.
A "get-to-the-point" look at interviewing for medical school... September 8, 2009 L. Caddell This book does an excellent job laying out what you can expect, why you should expect it, and what you should do to prepare in a easy to read, concise manner. While some suggestions may seem obvious, it is quite reassuring to have it followed up with sound reasoning from the point of view of the interviewer... you remember, that person you need to impress. I feel much more confident about the interviewing season after having read this piece, and I think that you would as well--so go ahead and purchase it.
Interview Book August 11, 2009 M. Rivera This is a very easy book to follow and has a lot of useful information regarding the interview.
It worked for me February 18, 2009 Neal E. (Fairbanks, AK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read this book a couple days before my first and only interview. I liked how it emphasized a few basic areas in which all questions relate to. I took the advice of the book. I wrote down what I wanted to convey to the interviewers in those areas and went over all the list of possible questions in the back of the book. After working through this exercise on the airplane on the way to the school, I felt confident and competent. Most of the questions asked of me were all mentioned in this book. I also received some additional invaluable advice from my wife- be quick to smile :). Needless to say, this was the only interview I needed. I highly recommend this book.
