4 out of 5 stars Like it...but not a lot of flexibility   November 17, 2009
Mama-to-be (CA)
I am really into lists and organization, so I really love this organizer. I just wish it was more like a mini binder so you can add and move pages. Also, it is sooo structured that you may not have room for all of your ultrasound pics, etc.

5 out of 5 stars The questions for your doctor make this entire purchase worth it!!   November 15, 2009

I bought this book b/c I wanted to be organized with my pregnancy and after I read a bunch of reviews-I found I liked it very much. The section with questions to ask your doctor are awesome and VERY helpful-I was going to do some research on what types of ?'s to ask and this saved me all that time and trouble. It even had things that I hadn't thought of like what % of your clients have c-sections, epidurals, etc.
Very much worth it and that was my favorite part so far!

3 out of 5 stars Not great for daily notes or questions for your doctor   November 3, 2009

I am pregnant with my second child and thought I would get a different organizer than I had with my first pregnancy. This one is very thorough for first time moms- with sections for interviewing doctors, midwives, shopping for baby, etc. Since I don't need most of that this time around there are a lot of pages that just take up space. The thing I DO need it DOESN'T have- room for daily notes, calls to the doctor/nurse, and a good amount of space for questions/answers at the prenatal check-ups. There are four tiny lines for questions and three tiny lines for answers. And ZERO extra notes pages. I have massive post-it piles stuck to each page with conversation notes from the nurse that called, about my NVP medication, etc. It's annoying. I'm disappointed in the size too- it will fit in your purse if you carry a BIG purse. (My first pregnancy I used the "What to Expect When You're Expecting Pregnancy Journal"- lots of room for notes and tiny to fit in a regular purse.)

5 out of 5 stars Excellent -- my husband and I have really used this   October 27, 2009

I'm now almost eight months pregnant, and I've already gotten such good use from this organizer that I wanted to write a review. At $20, I considered this a bit of a splurge. But it was definitely worth it, and is probably my most-used pregnancy purchase. I've used every feature of this book that applies to my stage of pregnancy, including the blank month calendars, the registry/shopping list, the records of medical visits, the spots to write in phone numbers, the baby name record, the resources listed in the back (which are actually current and helpful, even for an obsessive researcher like myself), the pocket in the back, and the sample "interviews" to conduct with insurance providers, doctors, and others. I usually carry this in my work bag, and I love that it doesn't really look like a pregnancy organizer. I bring it to every medical appointment. It was one of the first things I put on my list of things to pack for the hospital.

Everyone's organizational needs are different. For me, it was helpful to have all the baby things contained in one place. I didn't want baby-related organizational things creeping too much into my work/personal system -- in part because I didn't tell people I was pregnant until 14 weeks! -- and I think that having all this contained in one place will make for a great memory book later on. It's great that my husband can use this too, without feeling like he's digging through my work stuff. Keeping up faithfully with this book will prompt you to take care of just about every practical detail I can imagine. This is not a journal, and it's not a pregnancy guide -- I already have books that serve those two purposes, so I was so glad to find an organizer to handle all the details.

5 out of 5 stars It IS the essential organizer!!   October 11, 2009
Mamasutra (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I love this pregnancy organizer, it has everything I was looking for, and more. It feels modern and the information is laid out in a very organized way.
I like how you can write all the details of prenatal visits, keep papers in the little folder at the back, and write questions for your next doctors' visit. There's a 40 week calendar that you can customize, a list of needed baby essentials - clothes, equipment, furniture etc, and a gift tracker, including a chart for returning loaned items. Also, there's a section for tracking feedings, changes, etc once the baby's born. As a first time mom-to-be I find the book very re-assuring.
If you're looking for a journal to write your thoughts and experiences, this may not be the book for you - it has some areas for journaling and pasting a few pictures, but that's not the focus of this book. It's practical, has real information, and keeps everything to do with your pregnancy in one place. I love it!
