5 out of 5 stars A MUST READ for ALL AGES   August 7, 2008

"The One Minute Student" is a GREAT book for all ages. It focuses on how a few changes here and there to your lifestyle can ultimately change the way you live and make decisions throughout your lifetime. The story starts off at 100mph focusing on a female journalist, Becky Winston, who guides you through a journey of knowledge and life-altering experiences through a report that she has been assigned to do. The topics that are discussed throughout this book are ones which everyone can learn from, even if you've already experienced some of them. After reading through the book, questions such as, "What can I learn from this mistake so that this doesn't happen again?" or "How could I manage my time a little bit better since I seem to be so busy all of the time?" are immediately answered. The best part about this book was the ability to relate to a lot, if not most, of the characters, including Becky herself which made the story that much more realistic. On top of being able to relate to the characters, each chapter recapped the "lesson" learned within it so that you wouldn't have to go back and search for important lines; it was already done for you. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very fond of reading, but this book had me hooked and was definitely a pleasure to read. The only regret I have is not reading this sooner!

Finally, a book that my teens can read that teaches them the important lessons in life in a fun and engaging manner. I too could not put the book down. Every chapter is filled with lessons I want my children to learn and apply to their everyday lives. Not only will it help my kids, it will help me stay focused on being a good role model for them. Thank you, Kent, for writing such a brilliant book that my kids will actually read. I am going to give it to every teen I know.

I could not stop reading this book once I picked it up. It is a very fun read. Kent Healy brilliantly weaves in extremely significant life tools with a fantastic story line. Becky, the main character, is on a journey to find the "perfect student" and learns important life lessons along the way. These lessons are outlined at the end of each chapter in a "success journal" which helps to reinforce what was just read in the chapter. Although this book is marketed to young adults, it is a great read for any age. I am 28 and this book has become extremely helpful to me. I have applied many of the lessons from the book into my daily life and have received positive results. I am happier, more productive, and feel that I have a fresh perspective on life. Page 91 was (and still is) life changing for me. I highly recommend this book!

5 out of 5 stars Finally...A Book We All Love to Read!   July 8, 2008

We found this book to be a total surprise the way the lessons of life were explored and discovered by a young journalism student. What a novel approach to teach kids important life lessons. I enjoyed it just as much as the kids did and it provided a good jumping off point for family discussions. The kids were able to take away so many things that will help them in their lives. Great, Great, Great! I will definitely be ordering some of Kent Healys' other books.
