Ferrol Sams wrote several books about growing up in Georgia early in the last century, a period I have been interested in. If that is something you like, you will like this book and his others also. Good adventure and good life stories from the not so distant past.

Want a true picture of life in the rural Georgia of early 20th century? Want a true picture of life for a physician in contemporary Georgia? Want a true picture of life as a WWII medic? Want to enjoy some gorgeous prose? Read Ferrol Sams. He is one of the most underrated writers of our time.

Ferrol Sams works occupy a unique position in literature...great for those of us who remember when and great for those who will benefit from knowing how things really were.
