Excellent Resource, Well Designed October 13, 2009 Robert Gulley (Bellevue, Ky. USA) This book is an excellent resource and will get you listening to shortwave broadcasts immediately. One of the most useful features is the "What's On Tonight" section which lists broadcasts in English based on time of day and frequency. The other most used section is the "blue pages" in back which list all of the broadcasts by frequency. This allows you to quickly look up a station you are hearing and determine where it is likely coming from, even if you cannot understand the language.
The product reviews are very useful as well - and there are feature stories highlighting some of the broadcast stations around the world that make for very interesting reading. Great for beginners, and a must for the Shortwave enthusiast!
I'm a novice... October 3, 2009 Net Surfer (Wisconsin, USA) I'm a novice with my first short wave radio and this book. It made it easy to understand how to tune in stations figure out world time. Stations are arranged a couple different ways so you can always find a station you want to tune in to. I think it's a great and interesting book.

I am not a regular short wave listener and I have a SONY ICF-SW7600GR. When I have a few minutes in the evening while I'm reading, I'll surf the airways.
This book comprehensive and informative, yet easy to understand.
