Amazing must have reference book November 12, 2009 John D. Thomas (florida) This one is good for the studio peeps tooMusic Producers and Engineers Bible (1)
Simply the best resource you can have November 6, 2009 Aaron (Orlando, FL) I've read this book so many times that the binding has almost fallen apart. It is the best resource you can have for overall sound knowledge. If you have no prior experience this might not be the best starting point, It is quite technical and a novice would most likely find it as a hindrance rather than a help.
If your studing for an exam(VDV), this is another good book. June 22, 2009 Stephen J. Huerta Once again, if your studing for the CA state VDV evam, this is another goob book to read . It handles all your sound reinforcement studies and questions. Impedance, microphones, speakers and cables for sound it's in here. highly, highly recommended. I only concentrated in this book and the BICSI cabling installers book, and I passed my exam, need I say more!
Sound Reinforcement June 13, 2009 W. S. Mohn (Traphill, NC USA) Good general text. Did not cover enough aspects of live performance and sound shaping and enhancement for my needs. A little dated.
Solid foundation for live sound and applies to studio engineer / general musician use too April 1, 2009 M. Broadstreet (Spokane, WA) I've met quite a few Live sound techs that could have benefitted a great deal from this book, rather than having to piece all of this info together from other sources as I have over the years.
However I don't do Live sound, and even though I was familiar with some of the material having it presented together in a single context is quite useful. I still picked up a great deal that I had either not known or just plain missed in learning things elsewhere, and I'm sure a subsequent read would fill in even more gaps. Thankfully (imo) it's also written in a style that doesn't attempt to pander to the reader or give an 'easy' read for the casual reader, so approach with the intent of reading a moderate technical discussion.
