I ordered a used puzzle book that was described as good...a few marks on the pages and a bit of shelf wear on the cover. In fact the book was used, many pages with the puzzles solved and the cover shows use, not shelf wear. There was a slip of paper inside the shipping container that said thank you for ordering and if the product didn't meet my expectations, I could return it. I don't have time or money to waste persuing something that I researched and already ordered once. It's the first time that I've every been unhappy with an Amazon used book purchase and that's why it's taken so long to rate the transaction. David
Brain based learning November 23, 2008 Dr. Rebecca L. James (CA) Our children's abilities need to be more complex today than schools can possibly address in the current curriculum - this book aides in the development of necessary abilities outside the current curriculum!

Good critical thinking practice April 6, 2007 TDR 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I used this book when I was teaching fourth grade. I made packets that mixed the types of problems and kids had them to work on individually or in small groups if they finished their class work, or indoor recess, etc. They really enjoyed them, especially when they worked through them together. I liked to walk around and listen to them talk about their thinking, gaining insight into their learning process. We regularly did some of them as a class in order to model the different thinking skills used to attack the problems, and talk out different ways that students came up with answers. These skills are often neglected in school curriculum, and students really need instruction and practice in critical thinking (one of the 21st Century Skills).
