Customer Reviews: A FUN step back in time for kids! October 10, 2007 J. Arena (Williamsburg, VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Young readers will be immediately drawn into Bobbie Kalman's wonderfully researched world of play in the 1800s! Divided into sections, blocks, dolls, optical toys, board games, etc., with lavish illustrations, this book will become a favorite in your library.
Simple instructions to make a simple toy with the impressive name of "thaumatrope," which relies on an optical illusion called "persistence of vision" will wow the most bored grade-schooler or adult. I highly recommend this book for any child who loves history, art, and studying the everyday lives of people.

This book claims to have it all but I am sorry I bought it. It toutches a lot of aspects regarding old toys but with not enough examples. I expected the book to be full of old toys' pictures. For people with now ideas regarding "old toys" it has some nice aspects
